You're wrong. I'm sorry, but you're just wrong. The 1066 has better components and sounds better than the 166. If you don't believe me when I say it is different check out the specs.
No, it's very rare that I have crashes and if I do, protools just exits--no freezes. It's a Pentium P4.
Oh, and I do not use reverb plugins or delay plugins and that makes a difference, but I do use a lot of L1's and C1's--those tend to hog up the ram too.
