Hi-hat bleed through the snare mic AAARGH

put your high hats higher. that's why their called high hats, not low hats. put your mic about 1 1/2 in off the skin too. when i get the oppurtunity, i will show you a snare track with minimal hat bleed.

    Shure or Audix...

Because of the hypercardioid pattern there is a tail on the back end of the audix mics. For best feedback rejeciton with a hypercardiod mic, it's best to place two monitors slightly on the sides of the mic with the horns in, similar to this setup:

    Shure SM57 vs. Sennheiser e609

you need a new amp dude. preferably a real one, not a crate.

    Shure or Audix...

yeah the OM2 is pretty much equal in sound to the 58. However, it does have some cosmetic/build aspects that might tempt you to go for the OM2 such as: -gold plated xlr connectors -silk (instead of cheap foam) over the capsule -slick, modern design -hypercardioid pattern for better isolation...

Why the big change in Drum sets?

This thread topic is making a generalization about mainstream drummers. Thus, my comment was made with respect to the lack of MAINSTREAM wankers.

Why the big change in Drum sets?

even when bands had big ass kits, you can still play the stuff on a 4 piece.

Why the big change in Drum sets?

kits are smaller for the same reason guitar solos do not exist. Nobody likes a wanker on drums and no one likes a wanker on guitar.

Beyer M201 vs. Audix D1 on snare/m201 review

Okay...so I got a Beyer M201 the other day. I have never owned a beyer mic--most of my drum mics are audix and a couple shures. I bought the m201 because of its reviews and I was getting bored with my Audix D1. Upon opening the box I immediately took notice of the construction quality of the...

    Tom Delonge's amp?

he uses a standard (the big one) with a 2 x 12 rectifier cab on top of that. That tends to be his live setup. studio is another story.

Will Mix One Song Of Yours Free Of Charge No Obligation

something sounds weird about needing the protools session on dvd. All you need for any program is consolidated waves beginning at the same point.

    doubled guitars start to phase!?!?

if they're tracked separately (ie not simply copied) there shouldn't be any phasing.

    IDE controllers

Someone told me that hooking your internal hard drive up to a ide interface going into PCI was faster than hooking it to the mother board or as a slave. is this true?

    Stereo Bus Compression

an alternative to putting master buss compression is to compress the kick and snare more.

    ANNOYING snare drum overtones

you can get a lot of overtones with a thin plied head. If you are looking for minimal overtones, check out Remo EmperorX coated. It's a super heavy coated 2 ply head with a black dot underneath. I don't like my drums very ringy by any means, but I've found that a lot of drummers are overly...
