    Specific Isolation Headphone Advice.. pls.

Sennheiser HD280 - isolate very well (without being overly bulky) and sound very decent. I would get one pair of these and however many pairs of MoreMe's you need.

How do YOU tag your .wav files?

Depending on what version the demo of CD Architect is, it may not actually write CD-TEXT. In version 5.1 you could enter in the song names in the program, but it wouldn't actually write it to disc as CD-TEXT. Version 5.2 added CD-TEXT. And as people have said, Media player and others use...

Non-pro cassette deck recommendations for A/D transfer.

Yeah that would be a decent deal. But don't be confused, it won't actually record direct from tape to CD; you will still have to play the tape into the computer or something.

Non-pro cassette deck recommendations for A/D transfer.

Wow that is a lot of transferring, eh? Holy cow. I have a setup that would be pretty good for this, but good luck getting an efficient setup for $300. I have 4 old Revox B215 decks + 1 Tascam 122 deck that I can feed into a Delta 1010LT all at one time (I run one of the decks into a Sony Dat...

    Sick of the terminology

I prefer to call mine the "electronic brain box." Or just "computer." Daw never stuck with me either; might as well call it a Dur . :D

    CD Architect 5.2 demo expired

I bought Soundforge 7 with CD architect 5.1 quite a while back. Then I did the free upgrade to 5.2 . Worked great for a short time and then I built a new computer and reinstalled from my 5.1 disc, then ran the upgrade to 5.2 . I don't know if I just forgot to enter my serial number or...

    Who's the Boss??

I don't get it. Why would you hire someone to mix your record if he sucks at mixing and is a jerk to deal with? Did he have an awesome track record/reputation or something? How does a monkey like this float to the top?

    TDK or Maxell or Sony?

Well, looks like most people are responding to the old question and are ignoring your new question, so here goes: I would only attemp doing the cassette compilation yourself if you have a good quality, maintained deck that can do Dolby B or C. Although your best bet if you are willing to pay a...

    Harmonized lead guitars and panning

This sort of gets into a "how much time am I willing to spend with this foolishness" issue, but have you tried double tracking the harmonized part and then panning the doubles left and right? That is, if you don't mind it sticking out a little bit. Otherwise if I want it to blend a little more...

    Mastering Limiters?

I was surprised how well even my cheapy RME at home could handle being overdriven. Although I rarely do it because it just doesn't work in my flow -- in the box EQ > out of the box compression > in the box final EQ, compression, and limiting -- and I don't care to try EQing something that has...

    Tape hiss removal plugin

Be careful about this though. Unless SF changed it since vrs 7, it creats a track-at-once ref disc. I know of at least one instance where a plant has rejected a master (not mine ;) ) because of it not being disc-at-once.

    Question on levels/gain

I dunno peeps, having to really crank the input almost points to some kind of goofy gain staging issue... Are you doing some goofy gain staging? If so, stop it.

Audiophile 2496 and spdif in problem

How low is low? If they are coming in at around -60, then yes you have a problem. But I think this is more a question about using your Fantom, than using the Audiophile.

    Gt5

I think there is a setting that changes the sound of the output depending on whether you are hooking up to an amp, headphones, or line in. Might wanna try fiddling with that.

    bleed through in tracks

Hmmm, I'm not familiar enough with that interface or even Sonar to tell you exactly what to check, but perhaps Sonar has a recording option that allows recorded tracks to mix with the playing tracks. The other thing might be that your interface has the ability to route outputs back to the...

    Non-shelving de-esser? Free?

Hey folks, another de-esser thread here. Does anyone know of a decent non-shelving VST de-esser? The two I have found (spitfish and mda) shelve down the high end, rather than notching out the frequency. Or perhaps a flexible multiband compressor that works pretty good for something like this...

    freakin' Wharfedales...

    bleed through in tracks

Either your headphones are bleeding out sound, or you are using a soundblaster soundcard. For great isolation+sound, try Sennheiser HD280 phones.

    Best sounding $550 channel strip?

SCA makes lousy channel strips though...

    Best sounding $550 channel strip?

The SafeSound P1 is pretty cool in that range. Although I like it more for its multifunction ability than actually having a "wow" preamp in it.
