    Need help building new computer

So....I guess you would have been struggling with maybe 15% CPU usage if you hadn't splurged that extra $100 for the faster RAM?

How's this you think? (Micing Guitar Cab)

Yeah haha, that is where I get the most use out of it nowdays. :p

    Need help building new computer

I don't see why it wouldn't be stable as heck. Core2Due is really awesome right now. The 775 board may be upgradeable for a pretty good while ahead too. And that GPU fan may be unnoticeable anyway. Some of them don't ramp up speed unless in 3D applications. That server case looks a little...

    Need help building new computer

I would get a vid card without a fan. I think there are some 7600GS that are fanless for not much $$. Those Nexus fans are really quiet too, if you are looking to further quiet down your case. Other than that, I'm jealous. :)

How's this you think? (Micing Guitar Cab)

Always an interesting topic... I tend to think 3 mics is too many for a rhythm track unless you are doing something really funky on purpose. The sound you got wasn't necessarily "funky" but it was a bit fizzier than I would like to start out with. I suppose it could be EQ'd a bit for the mix...

    desktop recording setup question

I would give the Mackie Onyx stuff a good look. If you INSIST on marrying preamps to your interface, these won't do much harm.

problem with delta 1010lt (i'm probably just an idiot)

Ah, OK that clears things up a bit. I guess you are just sending too much signal to the poor little card. Try changing the Variable Signal Level to +4 for the inputs and see if that buys you a little room, even if it is technically incorrect. Unfortunately for you, the "pres" on channels 1...

    Niches eq out carving

It is pretty rare that I actually end up recording things on tracking day EXACTLY perfectly for the mix. Sometimes it is due to the live sound bleeding through and affecting what I think I am hearing, and sometimes it is just due to the kids' crappy tone/equipment. When I mix, I don't really...

problem with delta 1010lt (i'm probably just an idiot)

Right, he says they aren't going through another pre, but I am betting he doesn't understand that the pres on his mixer count. Leaving the jumpers at mic level adds like 30db to the signal, which would explain the overloading.

problem with delta 1010lt (i'm probably just an idiot)

Check out Page 7-8 of your manual. The jumpers affect the operating level of analog inputs 1 & 2. I don't know what you're talking about, dude. I thought you were using the pres in your mixer? What you ideally want to do is go from microphone to mixer mic input, adjust mic trim/gain on mixer...

problem with delta 1010lt (i'm probably just an idiot)

This means that the 1010lt is boosting your signal and acting like a mic pre. You want to change the jumpers over to line level.

I would take a good look at the RME stuff.

    Bass on vocals wanted gone

High Pass Filter Or turn down the low shelf band on your EQ starting at around 80-100Hz or so and give it a pretty steep dive.

    SX3 route audio to VSTi

Actually, there are a few out there: http://www.tazman-audio.co.uk/products/TheExtractor.htm http://www.knzaudio.com/index.php?midifier http://www.widisoft.com/english/widi-audio-to-midi-vst.html And of course, Drumagog may actually give better results for what you are trying to do.

    Digidesign Venue?

Yeah, I liked the part where he was all defensive about how much money his church had to throw around. w.t.heck? "Dood you don't even know; my Megachurch™ has gold-plated pews and crystal chandeliers and vintage microphones and we hired Bono to lead our 3rd service praise band so you should...

Drum Click Track Vs. No Drum Click Track question

For some "drumbers" when they record is the only time they try to play to a click, usually with little success. :(

Drum Click Track Vs. No Drum Click Track question

Haha, yes this is the correct answer. Actually, it is really nice when you get a drummer that wants to record to a click and can actually do it. Makes editting and setting up tempo effects so much easier. But I really prefer not to use a click for most people, simply because it adds too much...

    96k and 44.1

Yeah, but, you will be using two different A/D converters; which will most likely skew the test between sample rates a little. Either way, it will be interesting what differences you hear.

does anyone use t-racks to master their tracks?

Vocals only get mastered seperately in a cappella music. You may want to EQ and compress your vocals if necessary while mixing, but please consider the 808s, the snare, and the pistol cockings along with the vocals when you master the mixdown track. Safe.

    96k and 44.1

Sounds like fun. How are you splitting the signal to the two recorders? And what are you going to be using to record on your laptop? I'd be willing to bet you will hear a difference (depending I guess on your listening environment) if for no other reason than different convertors being used.
