A lot depends on the pickup in your guitar, some of the new stuff sounds pretty good plugged in and mixed with a mic.

I have a SM48 with a switch and I use it for announcements and such and the occasional guest vocalist works just great.

There are too many DI choices these days, but IMO the Countryman Type 85 is still the gold standard since it sounds very good, seems to work with anything: active or passive basses, ae guitar, keyboards...; virtually indestructable and still reasonably priced.

Getting a DI signal from the instruments will ensure that you can have separation then all you have to sweat is bleed from the other instruments in the drum mics. Still use the mics on the instruments for ambience and such.
