And of course, the ones that would work great on a flyer or on the marquee:
"Cancelled"
"No Cover with Canned Food"
"Closed for Remodelling"
"Postponed"
"Live Sex Show"
"Sold Out"
And lately, there's bee a move in the indie world to just name your band after some famous person:
Walter...
Well, anybody can come up with names:
Que Sirhan Sirhan
Jack Ruby Tuesday
The Lee Harvey Osmonds
Charles Whitman Sampler
The Britney Spearchucker
The Small Faces of Death
or if you're an emo band:
And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Bread...
All the new bands have long sentence names...
That shouldn't matter, I don't think, unless you're combining channels to one track. As long as you're monitoring it after the phase flip, you'd be ok.
We used fuses in the Tannoy near fields years ago, after blowing tweeters about 5 times. I couldn't tell the difference sonically, so I doubt it affects the sound.
I'd get one, and try it out. I have a Spirit Folio F1 which sounds really nice so far.
Once you have 8 channels of good sound, start building a "gold" channel or two, with some top of the line stuff.
But the DMP3 and the Soundcraft Pre's are in the same league, from what I've gathered.
Hi all,
I've posted my collection of track sheets, feel free to check 'em out and download the pdfs. I can make pads for you if you want, you can order those at the site as well. I prefer having pads on hand, so I don't have to have a printer handy.

Maybe you're on to something with the Christian studio angle!
Apparently some people are doing well with it, anyway:

Not trying to mock him or anything, just saying that someone else has had some success with that approach, from the looks of things. I don't know any of the...
Get the MoreMe phones. They're built better, have nice things like a mono/stereo switch, can be used really loud, and don't bleed to the mic much at all. I use them all the time, they're great.
Oh, and they start at $20/pair. Can't beat that!
MoreMe
The More Me phones are a great deal, they're loud, and not prone to breaking easily. That said, I did manage to break a pair! One of the wires came unsoldered. Fortunately, the MoreMe phones are put together in such a way that it's pretty easy to get in there and repair them. Try that on a pair...
I think you're right about the Notepad, no inserts. The Spirit Folio F1 that I recently acquired is a few years old, I picked it up used for $150, it has 8 mic pre's, with inserts on all, plus 8 line ins, 4 rca, 4 1/4". The line ins are in a weird stereo group configuration, I'm not sure that...
I think it's just two ways of thinking about your business and where you want to go with it. If you want to own and operate a local studio/recording service, yes, you need to be prepared to record anything, especially if you live in a small market.
However, if you are aspiring to be a...
Unfortunately, I don't have a Yamah or DMP3 handy. My first instinct, having put together my own rig is that you should get a mixer with nice solid pre's. A Soundcraft or Allen & Heath, perhaps. Then add "character" pre's as you go. But there will be situations where you may want to track 5 mics...
Yeah, the mic position affects it quite a bit, of course. I will say that looking at the waveforms, the Soundcraft and the MOTU had the widest variation, if you know what I mean.
I have two Presonus Blue Tubes, one is the older "blueface" stereo one with the LED meters, and the other is the...
I was reading the new issue of TapeOp earlier, and they mention a particular brand of Stereo Bar, and how much it sucks with the little elbow piece. But they had an answer! Take the elbow off and screw the bar directly to the mic stand! I'd never thought of this before (ok, I'm a little slow...
I just got an old Soundcraft Folio F1 that has 8 mic pres, with phantom power, and I think it sounds good so far. I haven't tracked a band with it yet, but based on what I've heard, I think it'll be just right for drums. Not too much high end edge, lots of mids, and pretty tight in the low end...
I have the Presonus, I like it a lot. It's nice to have the monitors run through it, so you can mute the control room easily. I generally track on location, so there's no divider between the tracking room and the control room.
It's very clean, nice and quiet, etc.
I think you're probably right. Most of the people I've talked to say the "old" Mackie is a bit harsher on the high end, though some people feel it has more clarity. Supposedly the Onyx is very close to the Soundcraft in character.
I have an Alesis Multimix 12R coming in a few days, I'll shoot...
I'm not positive, but this one has the "Ultramic" logo on it, so anything with that should be the same or better.
I was just running my iTunes through the soundcraft (out of the MOTU 828 outs), and I have to say that the board seems to impart a very analogue, sort of smoothness to the sound...
