    Some new BLACKFALL tunes!

Hey, you guys are good. I like the last 2 tracks more than the first one (from a personal taste standpoint) ALL of the songs were creative and well performed. I like the drum sound on the 2nd track. Simple but sounded good. Good stuff

    guitar/piano

Pretty nice, BS. Wow yeah, you're really digging in now. You could have almost made a couple of songs out of this. Nice song, good performance.

    Shaking one's gorilla

I'm ok with it. Yeah, acid surf music. Not bad

Using listener suggestions, i have a new pass at "Choices"

"I actually manually rode the fader on that track" - Ha, I do it all the time. Pretty nice song. Sounds like heavy EL&P. The drums didn't sound that bad to me

BEATLES cover - a song about a dog - can you guess which..?

By the title of the thread I figured it was Martha My Dear. I clicked on it because I haven't heard the song in a while and felt like hearing it. You did a good job with it. The mix leans badly to the left especially early in the track. Probably by design but it bothered me a little although not...

a new song by old rats

Cool song rats. Lotta energy. Something makes me think of Alice Cooper during the second half of the song. I like the long intro

    )))Time for some Hendrix(((

Ha. Pretty cool! Sounds like a fun song to cover. The drums are pretty good too. Is someone playing drums or what?

First ever mix - please be gentle with me

Good song. Really good. I agree that the guitars are fine. The verb on the vocal verses sounded a little Billy Idol-y. Unless that's what you're going for you may want to change the kind of verb or the length of it or use less or whatever. It didn't really sound bad though. The kick drum sounded...

"In memory of" acoustic rock with strings

I would have liked to hear the vocal harmony a little more. The part that started at 2:08. Nice song though. The cello is really sweet-sounding. Regarding the song structure. I would just play with the arrangement until it sounds right. Good song

    yamaha md8

I'm still using an MD8. I don't record enough to justify an upgrade. I'm not wild about the data compression but, if I want to record a real CD I'm gonna go to a studio anyway. If I do upgrade, it'll be for more tracks. There are 16 track machines out there, with CD burners for $1000. 16 tracks...

    Recording bass with compression?

I do it. Some compression on the way in, makes the bass 'behave' better when you go to mix the track

    Sony RCD w50c

I'm recording on a rather low end studio. I just got this CDR off of ebay for under $80. Anyone using one? I know it's a consumer deck like the philips and pioneer but a little cheaper. It uses 'bit mapping"? Anyone have experience with these recorders and how do you like them?

New mp3, Robin Trower cover with vocals

I like Trower too. You did a good job with this, what are you using for drums?

    My new song 'Indiscretion'

I didn't like the vocals initially. They grew on me however as the song wore on. Mixwise, the only thing I picked up on was that the vocals sounded a little 'on top of the mix'. I'm not sure how to change that, maybe a touch of ambience, or a little less gain. The guitar was pretty sweet and in...

real VIOLIN solos - WorldFolk - Best one ?

There were things I liked about the 2nd, but as mentioned above, the lo to hi didn't do it for me. Overall, I liked the first one better. Nice work

    new original piano/ guitar

Is this the best you can do? LOL, sounded great on my system. Nice peice too.

    Long time lurker, have advice?

Nice moody peice. The vocalist is excellent. I can here that voice singing a lot of good music. Nice job

First time post, lemme have it

Sounds good to me. What are you guys using to record?

    Tracking vocals

I agree. When recording digitally, you will probably need to compress during tracking. You can back off of the mic but you seem to lose some bass response when you do so.

when do you listen, when do you reply???

I would say this is a very old thread. I found the notification in my inbox like manna from heaven and it brought me out of hybernation.. I think I'll check out some tunes while I'm in here.( I may or may not reply though. ) Ray J
