Hey, you guys are good. I like the last 2 tracks more than the first one (from a personal taste standpoint) ALL of the songs were creative and well performed. I like the drum sound on the 2nd track. Simple but sounded good. Good stuff

I'm still using an MD8. I don't record enough to justify an upgrade. I'm not wild about the data compression but, if I want to record a real CD I'm gonna go to a studio anyway. If I do upgrade, it'll be for more tracks. There are 16 track machines out there, with CD burners for $1000. 16 tracks...

I do it. Some compression on the way in, makes the bass 'behave' better when you go to mix the track

I'm recording on a rather low end studio. I just got this CDR off of ebay for under $80. Anyone using one? I know it's a consumer deck like the philips and pioneer but a little cheaper. It uses 'bit mapping"? Anyone have experience with these recorders and how do you like them?

I agree. When recording digitally, you will probably need to compress during tracking. You can back off of the mic but you seem to lose some bass response when you do so.

I would say this is a very old thread. I found the notification in my inbox like manna from heaven and it brought me out of hybernation.. I think I'll check out some tunes while I'm in here.( I may or may not reply though. ) Ray J
