Can You Help Me with the Balance of this Mix of "Damned if I Do (Don't)"?

Please let me know what is good or bad about this mix of an original hard rock song. BTW, this isn't the op, so some of the early comments may not reflect this mix, since the gain has been reduced.

Another Night of Mixing in Heaphones, I'm I Getting a Better Kick/Bass Tone?

Thanks, guys. I'll work it out by going back to some better gain staging, then do some automation on vox.

Metal Song with Brutal and Melodic Vocals - Need Feedback on this

I'm not easily but hurt, But I'm making a statement for the whole forum that I think terms like "horrible" and "awful" could be replaced with "not good as it sits right now," etc. Our songs our like our kids, and you wouldn't want your son's BBall couch telling you he's awful. Anyway, just...

    Numbers (Please Critique)

Good job on going from regular to falsetto and back - not easy to do.

Metal Song with Brutal and Melodic Vocals - Need Feedback on this

FoulPhil wrote "It's different for sure, not a bad thing, but most definitely not brutal at all. It's demo quality already. The brootal vocals are horrible, although they might be usable. That weird effect is screwing it up and they are too loud. Not knocking it, but if I wanted to hear music...

Metal Song with Brutal and Melodic Vocals - Need Feedback on this

With Swarz's and VHSteve's feedback, it sounds like I can bring up the rhythm guitars during the verses, which I had ducked under the vocals in the last mix. Thanks, guys Here is a mix with more attack on the bass, and the rhythm guitar up on the verses...

Please provide Feedback on this Metal Mix, Beware the Wiccan

I'm going to start experimenting on putting these virtual instruments into a common IR room for glue.

Please provide Feedback on this Metal Mix, Beware the Wiccan

rayC "Luke, the 1st mix is awful - nothing hangs together - it's all separate parts & pieces." I usually don't use such broad negative terms as "awful" and "terrible" when describing someone's mix. I will take your constructive criticism into account, however - Just trying to get a good demo...

Please provide Feedback on this Metal Mix, Beware the Wiccan

Thanks for the nod to this singer, but he tends to push too hard, so I might have to do some subtractive EQ on him. Mixed this in headphones last night, and listened to it in my car today - I need to bring up the rhythm guitars, and add more body to bass. Need to cut some highs overall

Please provide Feedback on this Metal Mix, Beware the Wiccan

Thanks, Anders, yea, I'm waiting on putting a couple of bucks together to buy Softube Bass Amp Room, so that I can add some "girth" to the bass. Also, I have to be careful with the kicks, since there are double bass parts, but I will soon experiment with making my Slate drums and Trilian bass...

    Adjustments to Vocal?

Sounds (and looks) like you didn't put any make-up gain on the compressor. Try that, and post again

Mixing heavy solo with heavy rhythm guitar. Help wanted

You could try an automated lo-pass filter on the rhythm guitars when the solo comes in, to "dampened" them.

    Evaluate My Death Metal Mixes

Are you using subwoofers to mix these, because it sounds like you may be fooling yourself on the bottom end of these mixes. I would reference other D-metal bands through your monitoring system, and remix. Good metal!

    New to Home Recording

This track is a trip, because the drummer starts off sounding like a newbie, then does this amazing roll on a breakdown - If you can fix that cheesy hi-hat sound, that would be a start to a better mix.

    "Yesterday", from the 'Trouble' album

Vocals are fighting the guitars a little here. Maybe try a high shelf and then go back a de-ess if needed.
