Experience with ProTools LE and Digi001?

For around $800, how great do you expect the 001 mic preamps and converters to be? You're getting those, plus other analogue 1/4" I/0s, spdif, ADAT light pipe, and the Pro Tools software for under a grand. I think it's a pretty good deal for the price. I ordered the 001 and will upgrade the...

Quality eyboard amp for small studio?

I need a great sounding keyboard amp for a small home studio (12'x14'). I don't need to compete with other musicians but acknowledge I might need significant wattage (relative to the size of the room) to get tight low end. Any suggestions to look at or to stay away from? Thanks.

    Roland S760 vs XV 5080

I'm thinking of getting the XV-5080. It doesn't have an arpeggiator which I think is tons of fun. If I don't have any keyboard MIDI stuff yet, can someone recommend a MIDI master keyboard controller with an arpeggiator? I don't play piano so 88 keys and weighted keys are not important(another...

And what about Kurzweil such as K2600S (I know it's a bit more than $3000) or other Kurzweil products?

    Roland S760 vs XV 5080

Robert, Stop beating around the bush and tell us what you really think. ;) Seriously, what makes you say that about Sweetwater? (...getting way tangential to the nature of this thread)

    Roland S760 vs XV 5080

XV-5080 can be bought new at several places for just under $2000 (US). This includes stores and on-line like Sweetwater.

    cd labeling w/o cd labels

Dach', The question was addressed to anybody reading this thread. I have not heard anything at all about Neato. I've seen it advertised in the back of nearly every music magazine and see at most music stores. I was just wondering if anybody has experience with it.

ADVICE: keyboard controller/synth/sound module, etc for $3k

This is similar but not identical to previous threads: I'm a guitarist/bass player with no MIDI experience using Protools Dig001 including Sample Cell who needs a keyboard/synth for my home studio for all kinds of sounds which seem to be found in many workstations or modules I've tried like the...

MOTU vs. Digi 001 (Mac vs. PC) and advice on other home equipment

MOTU vs. Digi 001 (Mac vs. PC) and advice on other home equipment

I ordered a turnkey system from Wave Digital (I think its www.wavedigital.com). I went for Dig001 and a Mac G4 733 Mhz with the DVD-R/CD-R for my home studio. I play guitar and bass and am not a MIDI head so audio is much more important to me than MIDI. Sure I'll get into MIDI but all my...

MOTU vs. Digi 001 (Mac vs. PC) and advice on other home equipment

I sort of agree with Robert. Definitely go Mac. In a nutshell, you'll find people that go from PC to Mac and love it. I've yet to encounter the other way around. See http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001125.html I have zero experience with hard disc recording and ordered Protools on...

    cd labeling w/o cd labels

Be careful with labels. If there aren't completely circular and symmetric they can lead to abnormal weight distribution of the CD and poor tracking. If you must use labels, make them very, very small and place them as close as possible to the hole. It is still best to use a formal label maker...

    Antares Mic Modeler

I heard it demo'd at Digiworld in Miami. It sounded very effective, especially being to 'move' the mic a certain distance from the source. It had a pronounced effect upon the sound, whether eq or modelling I don't know and don't care: it sounded good.

    Digi001 PT LE: synth/sequencer/sampler/drum machine??????

I am a guitar/bass player who has been out of the recording studio for 15 years now getting back to recording and anticipating purchase of Digi001 PT LE run on a Mac for my serious but amateur home studio. I don't play drums or keyboard but will need to incorporate those sounds into my original...
