If you mix at the computer, you might try to cancel the BD out... Time-align a copy of the BD track so that it is exactly the same (in amplitude AND time) as the BD in the OH (may help a lot if you have single BD hits). Then invert the copied track. The bass drum should be gone then... Will be...

You might think of drum replacement (something like alesis d4, dm5 or even dm-pro). Do not use the sound of the module alone but use it in addition to get a fat sound... It is often MUCH easier than using compression and EQ and.... aXel I'll prolly be grilled for that comment :D

Just a thought: if you plan to overcompress the song afterwards (like I always do :D ), the master fader movement will have probably a different effect than you desired... Think of that... aXel

You might have selected the wrong digital in - I have a vs880 ex and that sometimes happened. If I recall it right, the recorder will not 'move' then... aXel

Tho I don't think it will be of any help, there are tools like that. I think one is freefilter from steinberg and another tool that can do this stuff is pristine audio. But... You're very unlikely to get the same result nevertheless - you'll probably WANT different spectra as there is...

Yep, you might try a mixer reset (dunno how on vs880, tho). I had a similar prob with a guitar track once, but it actually WAS the track. Recorded compressed clean and used the VS amp sims, and there was the scratch vocals in every f***n pause audible... Must have been the headphone wire...

You'll never get it synced with a portastudio imho... (The machine will inevitably run a little faster or slower when you try to get the stuff back into your 'puter). I think you'll have to go sth. like the zoom or boss way... aXel

Try to use the copy track stuff with a repeat higher than 1 aXel

If you wanna compress really heavily, it may help a lot to use several 'compressors' in series (usually plugins)... aXel

Though you may be rite from the musical point of view, it simply can be necessary to change a key because of the singer. Assuming you have a finished song, neither of your hints would really apply... So what would you do? Get another singer? The stuff you describe may BTW be the same problem...

Hi! I tried other stuff: the main track rather slight distorted, the other one rather heavily and low in vol. (done frome the main signal that I recorded from my parker at the same time - in fact the DI tip from above) Gives quite a nice additional crunch.. Maybe the thing you're looking for...
