    Why "flat" monitoring?

Problem is, there is such a variety of different playback systems that people are going to use it on, you can't just pick one, because then you would be off on all of the others. The best way to get it to translate to as many systems as possible is to mix it with a flat system (or as close as...

Is there a manual (mouse click) way to on/off in sequencers?

Yup. Piano roll in Cubase, and I'm sure there are other similar things in other programs.

    Cubase window

When you open up the arrange window, don't maximize it, just restore it, and then adjust the size to how you want it. Then, you can go ahead and maximize the window. When you need to switch to another window, then it should just go back down to the restored version, as opposed to the...

    compressor + firewire solo

Dude, you waited less than two hours. Give it some time. Yes, you've got it right. Hooking it up is one thing, knowing how and when to use it is another.

    Mixing Amps with AMP heads?

You can mix and match heads and cabs all you want to try and get different sounds, as long as you take into account the impedence and wattage of each. I don't really know how the MG cab sounds, so I can't say how that particular one would sound, but just in general, I would say that the other...

    Internet Explorer Help

Actually now with a new firefox extension thingy, you can run an instance of IE in one (or more) of the tabs on firefox. You can also just switch back and forth between firefox and IE with just one click. It's pretty sweet.

Acoustic Blues-ish Stuff - Please Critique

Hey guys, thanks a LOT for the critiques. I've been having a lot of trouble with the djembe, I just can't get it to sound right, (which you guys obviously picked up on), but hey, that's part of the job. We're trying to get this demo together by a week from saturday, and I need all the help and...

Acoustic Blues-ish Stuff - Please Critique

Hard on Me Sweetest Part Echoes Hey guys, These are three of the songs that my band has recorded recently, and I could really use some feedback on these preliminary mixes. I think they are pretty good, but I know I still have work to do. Any comments/criticisms are greatly appreciated...

oN THE BACK OF MY MONITORS

What he means is that the bass might be percieved at a lower level than it actually is, and then you would boost the bass to get it to sound right. But when you play it back on a different system that doesn't have the bass cut, then it could sound too bassy. You would be overcompensating for...

:o :o :o :o Boy do I feel stupid. I just remembered that it was when I touched the POTS it would go away. That would make a lot more sense. You were right, Light, as always. :D

    Should I get it?

Or get a FMR RNC. Only about $70 more than the 3630, and much better. It would be worth the wait, IMO.

    Amp for acoustic guitar?

SWR Strawberry Blonde or California Blonde. They sound awesome. If you really need an acoustic that loud, then you really should have PA support at your venue.

nanocomp better than art tube mic pre?

You have to have a mic pre. My guess about your problem is that your gain staging is all wrong. You are probably overloading the input on the computer when you use the preamp, but when you use the compressor, you aren't amplifying the mic signal (even though you should be), and then it is not...
