Do you experiance noise haveing a crt monitor next to your monitors or amps?

My monitors dont whine, unless I am deaf up in that frequency range. :D Seriously I dont get interference within my mixes. If I did I would be up sh!ts creek without a paddle, because I mix internally and I need my monitors on to do that.

Using Multiple audio cards in cubase sx?

I have a separate audio card (Echo Gina/24) and I use the Midex8 to handle Cubase's MIDI data.

Using Multiple audio cards in cubase sx?

I think you can use 2 cards with Cubase. He would have to create busses for the 2 cards within the software. Goto the top menu Devices>VST Connections and create new busses.

    just to get started

I beleive your going to need a host sequencer application to run the software synth in, like Cubase. But you may want to still check this out: Proteus X You should get that 24/96 card sooner. Hope this helps.

Please help. My mix is driving me crazy!

Thats the problem right there, you cant mix in headphones, you should use the monitors when mixing. Thats why the whole thing sounded like crap when you took off the headphones and listened to it. Your better off just mixing with the monitors and only use the headphones for tracking or quiet...

    tascam 488mkii portastudio

I had one in back in '97, I sold it when I bought more pro stuff. It never really gave me any track problems. I used to clean the heads and pinch rollers after every use. I never abused the thing. I hated the fact that is was tape based 8-track but it was still a good piece to goof around on...

adjust buffer settings to remidy crackle?

I think it has something to do with your CPU, the more tracks you play and add EQ, Effects, Compression etc. the more it will tax your processor and you only have a P3 with 851Mhz. Which version of Cubase are you using?

Just getting started on PC recording

He is using Cubase so he would be better off with a card that supports ASIO drivers. I would just save up and buy a card made for audio work.

What sampling rate do you use?

I record 24@48k, I notice a slight difference in the sonics with 48k as opposed to 44.1k. Some will argue that anything over 44.1k is useless. I dont agree with this, I myself have noticed a difference between 44 and 48k. I wouldnt recommend anything over 48k unless its going to SACD or DVD.

Just getting started on PC recording

I hope you have Windows 2000 or XP because Cubase SX only runs on those OS platforms. Like Manning1 said stay clear of the SB card, you will get noise and the drivers will probably make it even less stable to use. Its good for listening to MP3's and playing games, but it is not a card suited...

Do you experiance noise haveing a crt monitor next to your monitors or amps?

I dont have any problems, i.e no feedback, no discoloration on the screens and my screens are 5" away from each monitor. If you are forced to place monitors directly up against a computer screen you should look into "shielded monitors".

    DAW vs. "Vintage Analog" recording

Yes, if you use those freeware audio programs and plug your source instruments into your generic soundcard you probably will get errors in the recordings. But if you use software like Cubase SX, Logic, Pro-Tools with a more-pro sound card you shouldn't have any problems. This is of course your...
