fullcompass.com has them for about $11.50 each for 10 or more. I think they're TDK's but may be Sony. mutt

    How you all tracking?

I never got a VS because of the $$$. I use Cakewalk to do midi sequencing, then run the midi to a Tascam 564 digital 4 track to add vocals.

    amp for Event 20/20's??

Uh, Doc, I lost you on that one. So, would the Yamaha amp I mentioned (325 w @ 4ohm) be okay with the Events or too much? mutt

    Humbly submitted for your approval...etc.

Hey CT- I thought it was a pretty good article, but agree that you should (when you get more experience) go into the midi aspect. As far as velocity - on the sr16, go to record setup, page 5 - the sr16 has 8 different velocity settings, so you should be able to find one to keep from hammering...

    amp for Event 20/20's??

(I posted this on the other equip thread but I thought of something else :) I just ordered a pair of Event 20/20's (which took a big chunk out of my monitor setup budget). What size (power) amp would be good for those? Would a Yamaha P2201 - 220w@8ohm, 325w@4ohm, be okay or too much? Would it...

    amp for Event 20/20's??

I just ordered a pair of Event 20/20's (which took a big chunk out of my monitor setup budget). What size (power) amp would be good for those? Would a Yamaha P2201 - 220w@8ohm, 325w@4ohm, be okay or too much? Would it work if I kept it turned down or would it be a risk to damage the Events...

    Drum Machines

I have an Alesis sr16 (which some folks on this bbs scoff at) but I like okay. They're about $200 I think fairly easy to work with. I just record mine direct into my 4 track.

theres about a 1 second delay in sound when hooking my midi keyboard up to cakewalk 9

I had the same problem till I got a Midiman midi interface. That fixed it, plus I don't have to daisy chain anymore!!

    Keyboard needs amp.

I don't think you have enough horsepower with that setup and will have a LOT of distortion. Go with a Roland KC 100 or 300 (about $300 and $400). I have a KC 500 and am very pleased with it. They have 4 channels, eq, line out and headphone out and will give you a much better sound. I'd would...

    Help needed!!

If you're talking about recording your voice to the computer - yes. Cakewalk, Cubase, etc. but you have to have a sound card that you can connect a mic to.

    SR-16 drum machine

I like it! Most of the stuff I do is radio jingles and background tracks (I gave up the rock star aspiration a long time ago) and much stuff is pretty much totally midi and vocals. I also use it with our band live to add congas, etc. to our mix along with our regular drummer's work. To me, the...

ART Tube Pac.... Is it any good?

I got one a couple of months ago and have been impressed. I got it because I needed a compressor and phantom power (and I'm told the preamp is much better than the one on my Tascam 564) It gave me a cleaner, warmer sound on my vocals, for sure. I might not be the best source of information...

    midi files to MP3??

Doc Thanks for the link - I'll check it out. I see I should have been a bit more specific. I run Cakewalk thru my Compaq Presario's cheapo sound card via midi cables attached at the joystick port - to a Midiman Biport 2x4 - to several different synths, mostly my Korg X5D because it's light and...
