I'm more of a condenser type of nut.

    Looking for ACM 6802T mike....

I just hate to wait. Is it really overpaying that much? Were they $79 or $89 or something like that, plus all the shipping, etc.? I don't mind -- if someone has an extra to help out a fellow recording junkie. Al

Cant decide on what kick mic to get

Air motion? Maybe if the mike was directly in front of the beater -- which wouldn't work, there could be enough air to be worried about. But a foot in back of the action is a safe zone. I think you could kick like hell (now, mind you, the mike is on the drummer side, not in front of the drum)...

Cant decide on what kick mic to get

I'm recording Americana type acoustic stuff, and let me tell you: A ribbon mike about 12" from the beater is perfect for my taste.

    Group Buy Interest?

Ah, I can write first-hand about this Behringer mod. After speaking with him on the phone and emailing a couple of guys who had bought one, I purchased one back in January. I LOVE it. The guy who does the mods has his own site and is the real deal. He puts stickers on the top of the pre...

Best sounding album you have ever heard?

Using a head with an amp....for the speaker.

Yeah, it does sound rather complicated. Here's what Frenzel's website says about this particular head on the issue of not hooking up a speaker: "Post output transformer LINE OUT with LINE OUT LEVEL control for driving a higher power amp, or for using this amp as a tube preamp/overdrive. Auto...

Using a head with an amp....for the speaker.

Gordon -- thank you. And a simpler option, it was revealed to me, is to just to go from the head's line out (instead of speaker out) into the Peavey's power amp in. Bodhisan

Using a head with an amp....for the speaker.

Jay, that's what I first thought, but I realized that instead of clipping onto the amp speaker wires, my black widow has the window clip holes (for lack of knowing what they're called) where you stick the speaker wire tips into their gaping mouth, then release the release and the mouths tightly...

Using a head with an amp....for the speaker.

Listen: I know I not the smartest when it comes to electric, and I appreciate the rather stern concern here. One of the suggestions I saw on a pedal steel forum I belong to, on how to run two Peavey Nashville 112's together, was to run the a cable from amp #1's preamp out to the input of amp...

Using a head with an amp....for the speaker.

Let me reiterrate this into "Heads and speakers for Dummys" so I make sure I don't begin weeping (no, let me be frank and say: CRYING) with ruined equipment: I simply plug the "speaker out" from my new head into the "power amp in" of my Peavey Nashville 400. Because there are only three...

Using a head with an amp....for the speaker.

I haven't received a new head yet that I bought (to record direct with), so I can't experiment. If I wanted to use the speaker in an amp that I have, am I able to hook the head up to it through the preamp out/power in input, and if so, does that amp have to be turned on? If it has to be turned...

    Instrument tube pre with e.q....

I think I've found a veeeeeery interesting prospect. Jim Frenzel appears to put out a respectable tube pre. Thanks, Bodhisan! You're welcome, Bodhisan! Bodhisan

What's your choice? Mostly interesting in a recording direct from it, especially pedal steel guitar. Bodhisan

    bass mic?

Try a ribbon. I've had the best results with ribbons--and only use a ribbon to mike a bass. Bodhisan
