Well, I'm doing one more mix, I'll turn down the "glassiness" on the acoustic guitar, and do a few more adjustments and then it's time to move on.. Thanks for the comments!

    recording bass

Q I plug guitars and bass directly into a channel on my Behringer board. It was lacking high end and didn't sound so good until I started using a little impedance matching transformer. This is just the type you can buy at Radio Shack, cigar shaped thing that you plug a 1/4" on one end, and the...

A new tune - No Ordinary Girl - comments plz!

Here is a song I did, collaborating on www.artistcollaboration.com Someone sent me a rough demo of the tune, and I did all the music tracks and back vocals except for drums. The person who wrote it did the lead vocal. Any comments on the mix or instrumentation appreciated...

Ok, we're pretty sure this is country

Or when they do that octave jumping little whimper thing in the vocal... My wife tried to make me listen to Garth Brooks once.. I was counting like 15 times a minute he would do that! Made it unlistenable to me..

Ok, we're pretty sure this is country

Why does it have to be categorized? :D Biggest thing I think it needs is for the vocals to be more tight, and drums to be more upfront.. Reminds me of 70's pop.. maybe Lobo, Dr. Hook, I dunno.. Vocal compression, needs that too, more defined and tight mixing.. in my opinion..

Thanks for the comments! I might do another version with my Strat to compare... Actually my strat is a Squire too, but a 1983 JV Japanese, and I put in Dimarzio pickups, new bridge, refret, etc etc...

Check out a little blues instrumental

Yeah, started on the bridge/middle combination, the mellow part is the neck only, and then I do the bridge only... Did my best on the playing, but Stevie Ray I'm not! :o

Check out a little blues instrumental

I gave my daughter a Squire Deluxe Strat for Christmas.. and I hijacked it for a few hours and gave it a test on this instrumental... Not a bad guitar! Goes out of tune a bit too much and has a kind of thin sound, see what you think! Any and all comments appreciated...

That must mean me... I muted a 2 second part of badly played, out of time horns. Therefore I renounce my win.

I believe I sent mine in at 192, seems like a good balance between size and quality. I also used some limiting in the final mix, but no compression as such. The mix would have to be too quiet if all the peaks were left in..
