    Feedback problems.....

It's probably the mic, most cheap dynamic mics give feedback even if they are not pluged in. And the room is probably untreated. Keijo

Good crash cymbal for wailing on

It depends on the series, our drummer uses all Paiste 802 series and I wouldn't call them bright. I'll be recording his kit this weekend and I'll deffinetly post some samples. Keijo

    Boxy Vocals

Tell me what you guys think

Wouldn't call it gothic metal :) Well I agree it needs a lot of work. Sounds dirty especially the guitar tone which sounds muddy. And why is guit mixed it in the center again? The cymbals are harsh. Kick is weak. Bass is pretty ok, but lacks hi end. Keijo

    My First Band Recording

I don't think the problem is that you didn't take the head off the kick I have gotten some good kick sounds through the hole with an AKGD112. I just think the drummer didn't play the kit loud enough. You have to really play the kit to get a good sound out of it. Only bad drummers blame...

    Vocals over metal tracks.....

Record the bass direct, scoop the lows (200-400hz) boost ultralows a bit and the HiMids (4-6k). You have to have a heavy guitar tone to start with so a sm57 alone probably won't cut it so you need a conensor mic aswell. Pan guitars hard left and right. Cut the lows from the vocals and boost the...

N00b question, best CHEAP vocal mic??

Bullshit. AKG C1000 is a great hat mic if you want a harsher (attenuated highs) type of sound that coeas VERY well for metal. Behringer mixers are good too (if you get a working one). Keijo

    3 mics, where to place

That depends on what kind of drumsound you want. I recorded drums for a black metal band and they wanted very "home" and "unpro" sounding drums so I used three crappy mikes and recorded the drums in mono. For that band (and type of music the result ruled) Keijo

    Screen Resolution

I design pages so they are best viewable in 1024x768 and above, but I make sure they are also displayed OK in 800x600. I do not check themn in 640x480, because it's pretty pointless. Most ppl use 1024x768, so if your design looks ok on 640x480 it will look VERY small on 1024x768 and VERY VERY...
