are you sure you didnt activate all your vst inputs? I have a fire pod and cubase le and i got all 10 inputs working.

First of all, don't plug it into the mic in. You have to plug it into the line in. A line level source is stronger then a mic level source and will clip your preamp. Download goldwave. It's free, and it's fairly full featured. It will do just what you want it to.

The vocals seemed a little boom at times in my monitors. Besides that it's sweet. Really smooth sounds.

I like the drum sound actualy, it fits well the guitar, but the bass needs compression badly it jumps out alot. As to how much compression, I'm not sure, I'm really bad at that sort of thing :P

Marron 5 and lifehouse are light kinda pop rock, their tone is usually clean, or with some distortion. I'm thinking pedals aren't what you're looking for. What about a nice used fender twin?

Yeah, sadly that's the problem, and I know that that is the easy answer. But I just loose the oomph from the distortion when I push those meters down :(.
