    Room Buzz

I have what may be a tricky question since you don't live with me, but my room is rattling like crazy whenever I play with my amp. The buzz is huge when I play on the bass strings (I use .11-.52 strings). Is there a way to setup an amp so its easy to manipulate, still loud and hearable...

Where do you get your info???

I get the best information here and other forums. There is a good mix of beginners to experienced musicians in almost every style coming here, so you get views from a good many angles (styles, ease of use etc.). And what's great, discussion unlocks common knowledge so you end-up knowing a lot...

    Tashamed Again

The 788 doesn't support multiple sessions on one CD so your CD is always "closed" when you're done. Each time you wish to "rewrite" on a CDRW (with the 788), you first need to erase it blank.

    Building Studio Monitors

Thanks ;-) I'm doing this in conjunction with an electrical engineer (which will become my brother in law next friday har har). He knows how to build monitors, but I don't and I look stupid :P Anyway I'll let you know how this turns out.

    Building Studio Monitors

I'd like to build my own studio monitors for fun and profit (well, maybe not profit lol). Is there any good reference on the Web or some good books about it? Thanks

    Recording cello

I was wondering if I needed to add compression to a solo cello recording I'm doing. Would it take out too much of the performance and feel? I'm asking because classical music is another beast than pop and so might require different recording techniques. I'm quite new to recording. Thanks

    Contemplating:selling the twelve string

Woudn't that make the action awfully low?! If you take off half the tension on the neck I don't think it will stay still as if nothing happened to it. I never had one myself, but I think the neck would curve and make it unplayable. As for selling it, well you should check your income rate and...

    Nylon string guitars

I personnaly bought a LaPatrie nylon string guitar for 400$CAN, so it must be around 2 or 3$US and I like it pretty much. Now I play more on electrics, but when I get back to this guitar I always like its tone. Its the classical guitar brand of Godin, which also makes damn fine amplified nylon...

    Heavy sound with strat.

About buying a new guitar, its not something I woudn't do and I'll probably buy a humbucker type solid body as my next guitar (Ibanez, Jackson, LP, SG, whatever, I'm not currently searching for one so I've not stopped on any type now). But I want so many other stuff such as a tube compressor and...

    Heavy sound with strat.

Gidge, if that was an insinuation that I should get myself a mickey mouse guitar (aka ES-335) I already have one and it doesn't sound right playing metal :-) lol Oh, and thanks for the tips ;-)

    Another dumb question from me...

Well first there's no stupid question, only different skilled questions. And no, it shouldn't harm your preamp, the signal is still much lower coming from a bass than line level. Plugging a bass in a preamp is common.

    Heavy sound with strat.

Ok sorry if this hick-ups but as I'm looking at the thread now, my original message never got posted (got a bunch of server errors while posting). I have a Fender strat. with single coils, maple neck and .010 strings. I want to play some Metallica with it. I plug it in a POD v2 and use patches...

    Humidifier necessary?

I always use humidifiers in my acoustics guitars. The reason is that I live in Montreal where in the winter the humidity level drops to 30% (because of eletric heating). You need to get yourself a hygrometer to monitor room humidity. You can find those at your local Radio Shack store. If the...

Trying to determine the age of guitar by serial number

You might want to try the bass manufacturer site, which is Fender's. At http://www.mrgearhead.com/faq/guitardater.html (the official fender support site) you can probably find out the year your guitar was manufactured. You can do the same for your other guitars (well, you choose the correct...

Line 6 POD problems... anyone else? Guitar will not play when in neck position??

Well the pickups that come with a Gibson ES-335 are different and really depend on the type of ES-335 you buy :P If its a Dot reissue you get '57 Classic pickups which are reissues of 1957 PAF humbucker pickups (they can't use the PAF name since it was copyrighted by DiMarzio). Depending on the...

Line 6 POD problems... anyone else? Guitar will not play when in neck position??

pisces, if your guitar is really a Gibson ES-335 and not an Epiphone and you're not a professional guitar repairman, please take it to a true repairman! This beauty is worth several thousands of dollars and you wouldn't want to hurt it. As for slender fingers, tools do the job (mirror...

Line 6 POD problems... anyone else? Guitar will not play when in neck position??

Hi, I own a Gibson ES-335 and a POD 2.0 too. Its 2 years old but I've owned it for 6 months, so its quite new. I tried your setup, all three switch configuration with tone controls hi and low for both and I had no problem hearing anything. I also succesfully tried with a stratocaster. Also, the...
