what ohm does the amp run at? normally those 1000 watt car amps are somewhere around 2-1/2 ohm while the speakers are operating at the 4-16 range.

where is it bashed at? was it new from a retailer? what pre amp?

All this aside, EL84 amps cannot be biased...so Unless your ac30 is one of the rare ones, It has 84s in it.

I disagree on the sm57 thing.... most "pro" guitar recordings I have heard and seen the pro tools sessions of consist of some form of multiple amps using multiple mics over multiple takes, with heavy consideration on speakers and cabinet design. something like.... Fender D-ville open back...

SM7...it can be super in your face, yet smooth. takes will to compression.

How far can you push your processors before you start running into errors? I am running a quad core intel, I can push my machine to about 35% RTAS and disk useage to 4-5% before I start getting HW buffer erros.

doesn't EL84 have the socket pattern as a 12a-XX
