    Condenser mics and wooshing noise

as the fellow said, most likely moisture, drying it out may fix it although I've had to clean the diaphragm on one mic to sort it out

    Microphone for Podcasting

I'd definitely go with a quality omni dynamic, you should be able to pick up a ev 635a on ebay very easily. If your lucky you might find a beyerdynamic m58 cheap on ebay which is a fantastic mic with a long handle for interviewing. The RE50 is basically a 635a with internal shock mount and...

    thornmann

Thomann are enormous you don't need to worry, I've bought everything from drums, guitars, pianos to leads and plectrums. Nothing to worry about you can even call them on the phone if you're that nervous.

Should I return my second DPM3 for noisy gain pots?

Every sound engineer or musician should have a can of electrolube, servisol, multicomp etc. switch/contact cleaner or lubricant for fixing noisy pots. A quick spray is far more desireable than the hassle and or cost of returning it. In the case of the meter I'd consider returning it. P.S...

How's this piece of equipment for recording vocals?

USB is crap for any kind of synchronous transmission, I assume you have the latest drivers: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.driverdownload&ID=292 The only disadvantage of the Delta 44 is the lack of a SPDIF which is useful for synching if you want to add another card.

    samson microphones

I'm in ireland and buy almost everything from the US because the exchange rate and prices are so favourable. I've never had one thing damaged or go missing and I'm talking hundreds of parcels. You should be able to get an SP B1 or MXL 990 for less than that C03 on ebay

    behringer/shure etc.

Simply - studio projects cut corners in the right places, behringer cut corners wherever they see fit to save a cent. Most behringer products are cloned from rival products and then manufactured with the cheapest, shittyest components money can buy. I am an electronics engineer but you only need...

    behringer/shure etc.

The only behringer thing worth buying is their d/i boxes which are fine for live and you don't have to shed to many tears when they grow legs after a gig or get doused in rain / beer. If you are looking in the UB802 price bracket I would urge you to stump up a bit more cash and get a yamaha MG...

    Beyer M500 vs M500N - difference?

In general DIN is a german industrial standard, in this case it refers to the connector. Many of the older german mics used a three pin screw locking DIN connector. Other than the connector, I think the m500N, M500C and M500NC are the same. More info...

Replacing the Tube in my Preamp

I put an EI 12AX7 long plate in my tube mp. The tube will make a difference but the ART MPs aren't a very good design to begin with so you might be better putting the money towards a VTB1 which will give you plenty of clean gain.
