Actually RCA N.O.S. would be better. :D

My amp's got a crackle in it, darnit.

It is slightly louder than the tone. It isn't a Jack, or the guitar for sure. It may be one of the tubes as suggested. My gut tells me that its a connection on the board, or one of the connections going to the pots, or tube sockets.

My amp's got a crackle in it, darnit.

It's a 100watt combo, an old carvin xv112. (Now that I have it, I see that there should never be a 100 watt amp in a combo.) Someone on here had the same amp and turned it into a head by cuttin the bottom off of it. I think I make try that this summer. It happens at low to mid volume on the...

My amp's got a crackle in it, darnit.

I only have the one guitar. Maybe I will probe it to see if anythings loose. I will use some chopsticks. I don't like playing an amp with the chassis out of the cab, but I will be careful. Maybe I can see it or hear what part of the amp the crackle is coming form. It's Tube.

My amp's got a crackle in it, darnit.

It happens only when I play a certain fret, and to be sure I played the same note on different strings. It's like a frequency/pitch thing. More so on the clean channel, but does happen on the lead channel Isn't that weird? I don't know if I can track something like that down.

    Pots/Switches

A 1964 Epi is probably more like the Epi Elitist series which are quite expensive. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Elitist-1963-ES335-Dot-Electric-Guitar?sku=518419

    Fender solidstates all bad?..

What do you guys mean by clean? How does ss clean and fender tube clean differ?

Wow! one resistor swap in the wah, big difference.

The guy I bought it from did that, but it got scratchy again quick. When I get the new pot, I'll put it in and take the old one apart. I bought a Hot Potz II, The place I order from was out of Fulltone pots.

    Soapbar or single coil?

My own I guess, I just know the humbucker doesn't cut it for that. I ordered a 62' fender replica pickup. I'm just experimenting. I have this theory that fenders have many attributes that make them sound like they do. One of them being that the single coils float on the pickguard. I have...

The resistor with the 3 orange bands above the inductor in this picture is the 33k resistor.

This would probably work in the new Dunlop wahs too.

    Soapbar or single coil?

    What is the difference?

Wow! one resistor swap in the wah, big difference.

If you have an old Thomas Organ Wah, Try changing the 33k resistor to a 68k (it's the one across from the inductor). Wow, now I know why people like wahs. Now I can get that Voodoo Chile/Cloud 9 sound. All I have to do now is true bypass it and change the scratchy pot. :)

    Soapbar or single coil?

I have an open humbucker slot in my guitar, (neck position) and I want to put a single coil in it. The reason being is that my Humbucker doesn't sound "clear" and "bell like" on the clean amp channel. I thought a soapbar might look better in the slot. Do they sound like single coils? If not...

Do you need an expensive laptop to record?

Oh, and an acoustic guitar :D . I have to make a presentation of what I'm doing and what I need to do it. I could record on my P.C. It's an 03 with tons of storage, and then use either a C.D. player or Laptop with songs on storage, I really don't know about this, which would be better. But I...

Do you need an expensive laptop to record?

Isn't it just basically used for a hub? Isn't all the power in an external hard drive? As you can tell I know nill about computers, I'm glad this forum is here. I have a little dilemma. I might be allowed to use $5000 for starting a D.J./One man band outfit. I would record all of my backing...
