    I have these old jbl towers and I would like to try this before shelling out for new ones. The foam around the cone is totally gone on both as the speakers are from 1974. Which place online would be best for this?

    Well, if you want to to the solid state thing, I would go for a peavey bandit II, the one with the red stripe across the front. I heard it was modeled after the 5150, I had one and it sounded nice.
