That looks live, not a recording.

    Micro Moog Story...

Cory, I'd like to join Tim in recommending another potential helping hand in the form of a guy with whom I briefly had dealings with and who gets the highest thumbs up from many people, someone who beautifully restores old synthesizers, analogue effects and electric pianos. He in fact reminds me...

    cassette deck belt replacement questions...

Hi Dave. I appreciate that but no, it's the TC-K717ES in fact. I have the service manual and not looking for any original parts, rather to source my own belts which fit. I have the source, measurements etc... I'm good with all of that. I was just asking how much to account for stretching (as...

    cassette deck belt replacement questions...

Well, actually, they only provide various sizes, shapes and thicknesses and you get to measure the old belt, subtract whatever amount for stretching and matching up whatever you get with what they have. I'm lucky to get to do the hard part :D but... I see re-sellers on eBay charge several times...

    cassette deck belt replacement questions...

Thanks Jeff. It's a no go as far as original belts. None available. It's a Sony early 90's ES 3 head cassette deck (black face). I forget the model #. I have a place Studio Sound Electronics which sells replacements (non original - for 2 bucks a piece). I already dis-assembled and very...

    cassette deck belt replacement questions...

I'm working on a cassette deck now, replacing capstan and cam belts (major dis-assembly pain:facepalm: ) and the plan is to replace the belts using the original belt length minus 20%. The belts aren't falling off yet but I thought I'd get some which will last for many years. Is the 20% an issue...

Famous Swiss Tape Recorder Brand To Re-introduce Reel-to-Reel Analog Recorder!

miroslav, I see your point but, at the same time, have you ever looked at the plethora of expensive turntables and accessories for vinyl playback, all brand new, still being manufactured? I'm talking about many manufacturers and some of these turntables cost 10,000 bucks (yeah, that's ten...

Famous Swiss Tape Recorder Brand To Re-introduce Reel-to-Reel Analog Recorder!

I don't know if this was posted before but here goes. Fascinating stuff. Famous Swiss Tape Recorder Brand To Re-introduce Reel-to-Reel Analog Recorder! | Analog Planet I'm sure that many of us may not be able to afford nor have the inclination to purchase such a machine, if it ever comes to...

How do I get these connectors out without doing damage?

Thanks miroslav but, upon closely examining the connectors, it looks like they indeed have a latch at the bottom (the wide side) and it's not constructed in the way that you could "pinch" the top (at any side) to release the bottom. There are no latches at the narrow side, only the wide side...

How do I get these connectors out without doing damage?

Thanks everyone. I'll try what you suggest. Although miroslav's idea I'll have to consider only as a last resort. :D

How do I get these connectors out without doing damage?

Thanks, I appreciate the time you took. Yeah, the latching mechanism might indeed be opposite to the photo above. I really don't know. Maybe I'll wait for a few more people to chime in before I start working on that connector.... Again, thanks. :)

Thanks but I'm afraid I'll need a little bit more, as far as directions are concerned.... :o

How do I get these connectors out without doing damage?

I'm doing some work on a cassette deck and need to undo the wires to the mechanism in order to get it all out. I'm left with these 3 connectors (see photos). They seem to have the locking mechanism below but I'm unsure. Is there a safe way to remove these? It's so damn close to the components...

Quick follow-up: Is video tape also susceptible to sticky shed as the audio tape mentioned in this thread or does it have a completely different binder formulation which is immune? Is American made video tape, for example, made between mid 70's and mid 90's still good, either new or...
