I'm with mastahnke on this, Yakster. Let us know how it turns out. I have an old Ensoniq keyboard for MIDI, but I can't play keys to save my life. If latency isn't super bad, the Roland stuff just may be the way for me to go, so I'm very interested to know how things go for ya.

Hey PK, the above thread is one I started moons ago about Warmoth. Some of the replies I got were worth reading.
Seems to me that a while back in another thread somebody advised me to save my cash and buy a PRS instead. Can't...
Was that on EWTN, what I affectionately call the Crazy Catholic Channel? I saw him on that show doing exactly what you described, and I too would have gotten carpet burn on my chin had my jaw not dropped completely off and bounced under the couch :D.
Thanks AlChuck. Yeah, I need to see the item up close and personal, but I'm not too worried about it being in bad shape. The guy who's selling it (who happens to be in my brother's band) told my brother that one of the triggers needs some work, but he is going to fix that before the sale.
So...
I forgot to mention that the wah on my Digitech RP-3 stomper is pretty decent as well. Although it's not a true wah, the wah settings are pretty flexible and sound pretty decent.
I really like my Morley wah/volume, but like M.Brane said, it takes some getting used to. If you get a little bit too excited with your heel, it practically cuts the wah out altogether. Even so, I really like its sound.
I originally posted this in the Drum forum, but as I have gotten no response I thought I'd try in here.
Got some questions about the Roland Octapad:
First, what exactly does it do? I gather that it's a trigger of some sort using MIDI, but I haven't been able to find jack about it online...
Hey, my first post in this forum :D. Thanks for letting guitarists in here!
Got some questions about the Roland Octapad:
First, what exactly does it do? I gather that it's a trigger of some sort using MIDI, but I haven't been able to find jack about it online.
Second, how useful would it...
Re: Redundant, but it works...
Plus, it seems to me, you get the added benefit of working out arrangement anomalies. You know, maybe the cymbals in this part kind of get in the way of the acoustic guitar, or that great big power chord stomps all over the cool conga/timbale bit you came up...
Okay, so you're saying that Lange's association with DL changed their sound from a straight-ahead rock style to a more involved style, with lots more in terms of production. Although I would argue that *High 'n' Dry* is still pretty much bare bones, I otherwise agree with your point...
Hey Vox, a quick question. When you say pre-DL sounded like AC/DC, which AC/DC albums are you referring to? Since he produced a bunch of them starting with *Highway to Hell*, I just wondered which ones you had in mind.
And the pre-Mutt albums by DL includes *On Through the Night*, and that's...
I agree. One of my English professors used to tell us that, when writing or preparing to write, you should investigate your own backyard very closely. The tendency is to try to get out into the world to find worthwhile subjects to cover, but many times the stuff you have in your own...
I'm with 47ronin. Telling a story in a song is one of the best ways to get away from the I/me/mine thing. I don't necessarily mean like a concept album, either, although that's certainly valid. Take a look at some of your favorite songwriters' work.
Just a quick glance at the catalog of...
Uh oh
I think I've made a fool of myself, albeit unintentionally.
JCL, my whole first paragraph (up to the smilies) was a lame attempt at humor. I was only kidding about the gear, and I certainly would not have even thought of joking had I known your situation and where the money came from...
Here's a link to a discussion on the topic at hand from the prorec site. It's a few years old but is still pertinent. (Hope it's not bad form to include this, but it's so close to what we're talking about that I thought it wouldn't be inappropriate.)...
Re: I do have win2k
JCL, you're a stumbling block to me. Your recent gear acquisition is causing me to fall prey to the sin of envy. Renounce your sin and send some of that gear to a fellow Christian (i.e. to me) to atone :D :p :D. Just kidding, dude. Looks like you got some good stuff...
Sorry to jump in on this thread off-topic, but I just wanted to say "Hello" to Ethan. I hadn't seen any posts from him recently and was beginning to think that some of the less-tactful at this site had turned him off. When I saw a post about cello, I remembered that Ethan plays and might thus...
Great post, Eurythmic. So many of the so-called "live" albums we listen to are anything but. The classic example is *Alive!* by Kiss. Eddie Kramer says that, aside from the drums, virtually nothing on that album is live; the guys were so active on the stage that much of the time they weren't...
