    Patchbay Advice?

They look like the standard plastic shell, spring on the motherboard type jacks, front and back - no soldering.

    Patchbay Advice?

I disagree with Miroslav because the more you change mechanical connections between plugs and jacks, the sooner they wear out. I'd rathe destory (over time) a $100 patch bay instead of my console, my outboards, and so on. Generally, replacing all those jacks on that gear is about the same cost...

finding it impossible to stay in time when singing and playing guitar at same time...

Think about this: Do you drive a stick shift? I ask because you're doing four things at the same time - steering with your left hand, shifting with your right hand, accelerating and braking with your right foot, and clutching with your left foot. Four completely different functions, one per...

If anyone wants to practice their mixing, here you go!

No problem, if you don't mind, PM me when you figure it out. It's something to do with the server itself or the ISP, because I get a time out error after a long while rather than the usual "not found" error. Means the file is there.

If anyone wants to practice their mixing, here you go!

The test mix mp3 came down no problem, blazing fast, but the zip file times out before downloading at all. The link is correct because if it was wrong it would time out in about 10-15 seconds with a 404 error, so I'm not sure what's up. Anyone else have this problem?

    You ever wonder......

I'm in the dying breed category with you Glen. Does that mean you're bringing the scotch? When I made my post I tried to be brief as not to clog up the thread with extensive verbeage, so no, what I said was not all encompassing in any way. I just tried to hit on the big things I've seen...

How can I use my analog 10-band equalizer in my studio?

If the room is "way off" then yes, it's a bad idea however if the room is reasonably okay acoustically, minor graphic EQ tweaks can help flatten out the sound in the listening position. Of course one needs a reference micrphone and a white noise generator, but that's another story. I have a...

    Extracting Vocals

It's just another reminder that doing favors for friends require endless streams of punishment :) Thanks for the wish of luck... I'm really not a plug-in guy and kind of learning as I go. I miss the reels, knobs and faders, I really do. I'll keep ya posted. I have four versions of her voice...

    Dumbass!

Great, glad my advice was helpful :) A friend of mine just finished painting his jeep body and frame with the stuff - the body is their bright yellow and the frame is black. He figured using this stuff would be better than having to paint it after every off-road trip he takes with thing...

    Dumbass!

Labels aside, just be glad rotating the connector one pin off axis didn't result in the encapsulated smoke in the device from leaving. Been down that road too many times myself. It's nice when electronics can be forgiving.

    Extracting Vocals

Yes, I tried that one as I have all the voxengo plugins running with Sonar and Audacity. I also tried "Karakoa" which is an older vst plugin but it actually did a slightly better job than I could get MSED to do. That's what it sounds like to my ears... and before mixing to a stereo or mono...

How can I use my analog 10-band equalizer in my studio?

The Pioneer 9500 is not a parametric EQ which you said you would like, but instead a fixed-band, fixed with equalizer. A fancy, quality unit for sure. Here's the manual to your console if you don't have it: http://kitchen.manualsonline.com/mdownloads/d438fadb-354f-4f8b-bc92-ce9ce541ae4f.pdf...

Is it wise to buy used equipements ?

For certain. Who videotapes themselves packing a box for an ebay sale? Like I said, the Postmaster General agreed, and this was considered in his eyes "postal mail fraud" so when the Postmaster General of the seller's state called him, I had a refund check "overnight". To whomever mentioned...

    Help regarding buying Studio Monitors

Generally speaking, no set of monitors in any room is "perfect". Obviously there is some correlation to price for both monitors and room treatments and how close to perfect one can get, but where things fall short you can "learn" the monitors in that room. What that means is by playing your...

    Ideal Storage Setup.

Another option is to purchase a four-drive Buffalo Terastation NAS server. Used on ebay they are fairly reasonable, and have two USB ports on the back, for a spare drive. What you do is mount that drive on your MAC or your Windows PC, and store everything on the shared drive. Then at some...

Is it wise to buy used equipements ?

I buy (and sell) used equipment all the time, mostly on eBay, sometimes I find neat stuff at garage sales, the surplus market, etc.. Overall, I've had great success with all this - only one issue where the seller sold me a JBL 4-channel compressor and "coincidentally" the US postman removed the...

    Head

I like this a lot... though I tend to prefer a little brightness on the bass, not sure if that fits your song/genre, but I would at least try it. Very, very tight and polished. I like the balance very much. Kudos.

    Extracting Vocals

Not sure if this is the correct section or not, but I will blast it out there anyway hoping that it is. Due to a very long, tiring story I have a stereo MP3 where the vocals are clear (and centered), but the background music (somewhat stereo) is muddy, crummy, aggrevating, terrible, and about...
