Per the manual, they leave the factory with only one partition. But when I go to "HDD Info" it shows Drive 1 with about 20 G, and Drive 2 with about 17 G. Is this part of the "Version 2" upgrade? Scott

I'm not complaining about being limited to 2 inputs. Rather, my problem is that with those two inputs, I can't figure out how to simultaneously record them onto 2 seperate tracks.

Do tell. Here's what I'm doing that isn't working: Connect mics; press both input buttons, observe both red input lights; select tracks 1 & 2; record. But both mics are recordig onto both tracks, and it's not a bleed issue. What am I doing wrong?

Well I just found another drawback to the 1180. Just got off the phone w/ Roland support. I was trying to record 2 mics simultaneously onto 2 seperate tracks -- no can do w/ the 1180. They both go to both tracks.

Where do you get silica packets? I can only find it in bulk.

Zimmy, I have a BR1180, and used properly it makes fine demos. The 1600 would be even better.

Aside from the number of tracks, is there much difference between the 1180 and 1600? What I dislike about the 1180 is the limited inputs, and no send/return for outboard effects.

The new album is very, very good. It sounds amazing to me. Like his earlier solo records, it's easily distinguished from a PF record, IMO. But it came with a bonus CD containing one track called "Island Jam" that is very Floydian sounding, reminiscent of "Shine on you Crazy Diamond."

jimistone, I had the same problem with mine. I took it to the local warranty service center and the tech found some shoddy soldering and fixed it.

There is only one phantom power "switch" governing the two mic inputs. But I want to input a condenser and a dynamic mic at the same time. One requires phantom, the other does not. Am I out of luck?
