That's a good point. In fact, in one of the cuts on the new solo record there appears to be a 6-string lead track that morphs into a pedal steel track, back and forth woven together. I think it my be the song "The Blue." The result is very cool.
How about a 12 bar blues in G, with lots of chord substitutions and embellishments. Use a bunch of nines, raised nines, flat 5/raised 9's, 13's, a bunch of half steps into and out of chord changes, etc. Can be easy to execute but really impressive.
You don't need to erase the presets. You can create "User" rhythm patterns and arrangements. And you can adjust the BPM of imported loops. I've done that, but only once or twice and don't recall the procedure off hand. But I haven't tried running a drum machine into it.

I have a pair of Rogersound Labs studio monitors. In the '80s these were among the best on the market (or so I've been told). I've used them continuously for 20 years, and they still sound great. But I wonder if a little service could maximize their performance...
