    Lay That Burden Down

Thanks for the feedback guys. The "acoustic" guitar is a 12 string patch on my Roland GR55. Double tracked and each panned to opposite sides. I'm not thrilled with the tone, but want to leave this one for a while. I might replace them at some point. I'm going to have to investigate the panning...

    Lay That Burden Down

My latest. Kind of a contrived combination of Wish You Were Here and Freebird. Kind of a fun pallet of sounds to work with, though. MP3 Player SoundClick

Ball End 1/2 size classical guitar strings?

I just went to buy nylon strings for my classical yesterday. Never seen ball end nylons. I bought 'em. It's almost a novelty to me. As to your issue, couldn't you just cut off the amount you don't need?

The fork in the road: PC or Mac!

I bought a mac book a few years ago, after years of recording on a pc.I was used to being able to find tons of freeware vst's for the pc. Seemed completely different for mac.

    My latest tragedy..semi-acoustic upright bass

Thanks! Most of it is my girls. Thanx Gerg. I guess it sounds OK, acoustically, though it doesn't seem much louder than the solid body upright I made.I know very little about acoustic construction, and I'm sure i did most everything wrong. :D The pickup friggin' growls. No truss rod. I don't...

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

I never used the SR. It looked different to me, in terms of data input, so I just kept using the HR. I used the HR from '89 to about 2004, when I began using software. I love the flexibility of being able to use any sample I like, but I loved the step sequencer in the HR.It took me years to get...

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

I started programming on an Alesis HR16. I've not found anything that I liked programming more! I've looked for a pc version of the same interface, but never have been able to find one.

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

That's my biggest complaint. It's always been a tedious process, but as i get older, more alcohol softened and worse ADD, it's almost impossible to get anything done! :D

Does it also randomly modify velocity? I would think that should be a factor, too.

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

I neither applaud nor lament the use of programming. It's a fact of life for me.While I don't want my drum tracks to sound lame, I'm not overly obsessed with making them sound real, either. They are one voice in the composition.

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

Not sure what it says about me, but almost none of that is relevant to my attitude about making music.

Sooooooo tired of fake drum threads.

I get that, and believe that live musicians, interacting in real time is one way of making art. Another is one person, assigning sounds here, then there, according to his taste and vision, within the stereo field. The sounds may get there via mouse click, some sort of midi trigger device,a...

    Have you added a pickup?

It would require surgery, but you could put one of those MusicMan style humbuckers in it.

    Electric upright bass build

Pieces from my next build, already in progress. A semi acoustic upright bass. It's going to be a shorter scale. I bought a cello fingerboard, rather than a double bass fingerboard, which still puts it very close to the scale of an ordinary electric bass.
