    Mix critique of song-snippet

I suck so bad at this (critiquing). Unless someone posts something really amateurish, it's hard for me to find fault. This just sounds great to me. Make it less...um...great! I dunno! :D

    The Unlived Life

Seems to be a consensus that the bass rumbles too much. It's drop D, so that probably doesn't help.I think the keys and "rhythm" gtr are fighting for bandwidth. The bass is a piece of crap jobby I built, with a Guitar Fetish knock off of a music man humbucker. The thing has balls, if nuttin'...

    Factory Joe

I met Dougie at jamfest ('03, I believe.)Collabed on a song around that time.Great guy. He completely disappeared. I heard he had health issues. Hope he's doing OK. Song's great fun. Only major nit is the muffly quality of the lows.

    Bob Dylan song.

You know what it reminded me of, with the faster tempo? Clapton's "Forever Man".

    Bob Dylan song.

Love this song! Tempo is too fast for me.It really affects the groove to me. Just my taste. Love the lead tone! Great choice of tune!

Scored a cheapo used one on Ebay for a bit under $200.Hopefully that will pacify my neurosis...for a time.:D

    Anybody got a sitar?

I might just buy a cheap one.I would like to try to use it as it's intended, rather than incorporate it into a pop format.Much of the stuff I write features guitar trying to mimic exotic instruments, which is a nice exercise in versatility, but it would be cool to have the real deal. I don't...

    Axe To Grind

Thanks dude.Funny how romanticized our younger anger can be. Anger when we're older is just bitter and pathetic. :D Still, it fits nicely with the current election theme. The keys are vsti(http://www.kvraudio.com/product/mrray73_by_gsi/details) I decided after the fact that I wanted wah on...

New Song - Hey Hey Hey

rhythm section is quite sonically pleasing. What are you using for drums? Timing issues in the horns, and a general sense of overly noodling are holding it back a bit. It's got potential!

    Axe To Grind

Thankee! :) LOL. I did. I obviously didn't do it well enough.I must confess, I get bored by the end of the process and put up with a certain amount of slop.

    Axe To Grind

Here's a song I wrote 23 years ago. This is my 3rd go around recording it (my pathetic archiving habits are such that I have no remaining copies of the 1st 2 versions.) I whipped it together fairly quickly. Basically a cynical view of politics, over a basic reggae, I IV V progression. Enjoy...

    Anybody got a sitar?

I watched a youtube video of some Indian dude making one. Everything looked so primitive and imprecise as he was doing it, but as he refined things, it looked just awesome. I don't want to buy or build one for any other reason than I just want one.

    Anybody got a sitar?

I want to build one. Why do these thoughts have to come into my head?

How does Lars Ulrich record such a massive drum reverb sound for The Black Album?

Jason sounded really good on the $5.98 ep. I don't know why they had such little faith in his contribution.

    Sweet Jesus

I got no real nits. Just really enjoyed the tune. Really enjoyed the fuzzy bass.

    Lay That Burden Down

The leslie speed is high throughout. The B3 is a vsti called ORGAN ONE (KVR: Organ One by Bojo - Organ VST Plugin for Windows) .The leslie is a plug by MDA. I suppose I could vary the speed using envelopes. Might be a worthy, if somewhat tedious endeavor, because it would definitely add realistic...
