Need Honest Opinions On This Artist.

Honestly, it sounds like dude doesn't know who he wants to be... Does he wanna be east coast? Southern? West coast? Dude sounds confused... And he's doing the one thing I hate most. Claiming he's rich off the music, and don't nobody know him. Even if dude is rich, it ain't because...

    "HIPHOP" Art or Poison?

Yes, I'm familiar with Baraka. However, I don't agree so much that Eminem and the like are responsible for changin the art. Eminem had his own style, widely respected as a lyricist in the underground before he blew up in the mainstream. His first two albums were literally a slap in the face of...

Rapper needs to be a freestyler??

Honestly, I don't care about impressing other emcees. I could care less what someone thinks if I don't jump in a cypher. I'm a grown man, I've been performing at Hip-Hop shows for 13 years, and I've been recording for over 7 years. I've released 2 albums, moved thousands of units, and I work...

    "HIPHOP" Art or Poison?

Honestly, I think a lot of curent underground Hip-Hop is heavily rooted in the blues and jazz culture. This guy records at my studio: www.myspace.com/othello He's an example of that part of underground Hip-Hop. However, the originators of Hip-Hop (Kool Herc anyone?) simply had a DJ looping a...

Rapper needs to be a freestyler??

Seriously, why do you find it necessary to disrespect our forum? We didn't seek you out, and berate you for liking rock music, or doing whatever genre you do. Yet you find it necessary to come into our little forum, and mock us based on your perception of the culture. Likely through mainstream...

Rapper needs to be a freestyler??

I haven't freestyled in 5 years, at least. I used to do it all the time... The thing is, I knowa lot of freestylers who can't write a song to save their lives. They're nice off the dome, and with punchlines.. but they can't keep a listeners (not another emcee, a fan) attention for more than 16...

Are you a hot producer, or are you a wannabe?

Umm... Eminem is currently working on a new album for release this fall.

Are you a hot producer, or are you a wannabe?

My wife is dyslexic too, so I wasn't clowning him.. just wondering. I was moreso gonna clown him for being drunk that early in the day.

Are you a hot producer, or are you a wannabe?

Yo, are you drunk or dyslexic? It means you can't use samples... if you choose to use drum kits, they need to be royalty free kits.

    Soundcard help?

    Yup, quarter inch to XLR.

Are you a hot producer, or are you a wannabe?

I just skimmed the Official Rules, and here's the catch. Which basically means, if you enter and win anything, from 1st prize to last prize... you've lost all rights to your production. Still not a bad contest if you do win. Because you have a shot of working with Shady artists who may feel...

By all means, give them a try! I have a bridge for sale, anyone interested? Has a great view... ;)

    Online Mixing website

Site looks pathetic, for one... Multiple typos and the layout is pretty bad. Two, the pricing isn't that great... There are plenty of people on this site who will mix your sessions for $35 an hour or so... and some who will do it for free. Not on "pro" equipment, but the equipment doesn't...

What's the one Plugin you can't live without?

Aha! :D Well, as much as I'd love to go back to the sound of the mid 90's (especially in mastering) I have to say, I'm so glad the digital age of recording has become what it has. Sure the market is now saturated with more crap, but that's an entirely different topic. :p

What's the one Plugin you can't live without?

I suppose you're under the assumption that most engineers don't evaluate the levels before attempting processing? I'd assume that was the standard... I mean, that's how I was taught anyway. Adjust levels, pan, create the best mix possible... Rely on processing only where necessary...

What's the one Plugin you can't live without?

List the Plug, what you use it for primarily (vox/guitars/drums/etc..), and why you think it's the best at what it does... I'll go first. Plugin: Waves C1 Comp SC Primary Use: I generally use this for sidechain compression on bass guitars, to clear room for kicks in the mix. Why?: Out of all...
