This has been treated as a joke so far. but it it is a damn good idea. I have been lucky so far with my Ebay purchases but I would love to know how the pros do it.

    Im bored to death!

Count your blessings. ...and Fitz. if you had that kind of money you would end up like others who buy all the Tascam gear ever made and sit on it, never offering the rest of us the chance to buy any.

    Im bored to death!

Over at the Tascambbs they tended to deride this site, but I have come to realize there is some interesting stuff here. If, and when, Tascam opens again, please give us a visit.

    Im bored to death!

I was just pulling your leg, but now that you mention it, I use no digital at all, not even to burn a CD. To me, digital is like MDF, particle board, Formica and all that stuff. Analog is like cherry, rosewood, walnut and oak and even some exotic African woods that are quickly disappearing...

    equipment buzz...Help!

At full volume and with no input, almost all AC powered gear will pick up some 60 Hz hum. It comes through the air and sneaks into unshielded high impedance circuits. Don't worry about it if it is not apparent at normal levels.

A nice site for newbies with any kind of recording/music questions

Cut Zeke a break. He is not charging you anything and even if he quotes from a book, he takes the time and trouble to answer questions to the best of his ability and at no charge.

Craftsmam is a typo and MDF is Medium Density Fiberboard.

    equipment buzz...Help!

Does the deck have a three wire grounding plug? Or at least a two wire, polarized pug with one blade wider than the other?

    Zaolla Cables?

During WWII when copper was in short supply and they were making pennies out of steel, they used silver for wiring in many critical weapons systems. Some surplus dealers got rich after the war was over.

    Inexpensive portable/ compact digital recording

If you only want to capture the words of the ceremony and are not recording music, there are dozens of little voice recorders out there less than half the size of a pack of cigarettes with capacities up to several hours. Check any electronic gift sites for Digital Voice Recorders.

    Zaolla Cables?

Silver is a better conductor than copper but gold is not. Gold plating is used because gold does not corrode. Return those solid gold cables at once! Check it out: http://www.amm.com/index2.htm?/ref/conduct.HTM

    Porta One pooper

As brilliant as you are, I can't help thinking that the Tascam engineers would have done that already if they had thought it a good idea.

Have Larry's frequent posts on the subject of "micing" vs "miking" fallen on deaf ears?

Tascam Boards Are Out Of Action

---and come to think of it, all this rain started at the same time. Hmmm.

Tascam Boards Are Out Of Action

I DID find it odd that just at the time Larry said his site was going down was the time Tascam went off line. Also- the blackout was determined to have been started in Ohio (right next door to Indiana).

    Demag?

Once in and once out is sufficient. Each time you approach, you undo the previous degaussing to a slight extent anyway.

    The Tascam Forum is Down

Did you fail to notice that I left out the "E" in "knowledge"? It was a test, and you failed.
