    Beta 57's versus SM57's

Is there really much of a difference, aside from price? Used I can get an SM57 from $40-$80, the beta's on the other hand are difficult to get for less than around $110.

    Aside from audio interfaces

If you guys couldn't use audio interfaces or PC's except for post-recording processing, what would you use to lay down your tracks?

Rode NTV Tube and SHure SM57

He acquired the studio of someone who passed away and the mic had been stored in a case in an air dried cupboard and never used. He said he sold the house and studio already just needs to get the equipment out.

    Sigmas

Are Sigmas any good? I just recently started hearing about them and someone has an acoustic Sigma for sale for $150, just curious how nice of a guitar they are. Aren't they Martin knock offs or something like that? While I'm at it, has anyone heard of Sonora Mandolins? A google search doesn't...

Rode NTV Tube and SHure SM57

Is a Rode NTV for $400 and a Shure SM57 for $70 a good deal? Both new and mint.

Condenser Mics for the New Recording Artists V 2.00`

Well the NT2-A features a switch that offers (quoted from Rode's website) "The NT2-A’s variable controls allow switching between Omni, Figure 8, and Cardioid polar patterns." So it sounds like you could get the same intimate feel with the Rode as the AT by correctly manipulating the features...

Condenser Mics for the New Recording Artists V 2.00`

So you're saying that the NT2-A is like Hot Chocolate and the at4040 is like Ice Water? Now at point blank value it soudns like "Obviously the Hot Chocolate!" but there's some things to consider here. One, after drinking a glass of hot chocolate I don't know about you, but my falsetto is...

Condenser Mics for the New Recording Artists V 2.00`

Hi guys, I made a post a few weeks ago that got lost in the abyss of the website but I have since upgraded my budget by a bit and wanted to see what everyone had to say about my considerations. I'm now considering something like either an at4040 or a rode NT2-A (thoughts?). 1) I recently went...

    The New Recording Artist's Equipment

For some reason I neglected to see how great this post was =S. The only option I MIGHT have for PC recording is a Celeron 2.6 GHz 256 Mb RAM craptastico Pc =/, that's a big might if you couldn't tell.

    The New Recording Artist's Equipment

    1) Yes I want to eventually, but that's a rather long term goal. (Not concerning this purchase). 2) Most likely just myself, I will play the guitar parts, vocals, bass, etc. 3) Portability is very handy, although I'd have to buy a new PC in order to go the non-portable way anyways. So I'm just...

After many sound tests and listening to you guys and just personal preference overall, it's looking like I'm gonna go for the AT4040, ought to be able to get one for around $200ish on eBay. Condenser Mics for the New Recording Artist

It appears people have lost interest in this topic and so I post one final question: If I were to buy one microphone up to around $300, which microphone would that be, excluding packages, etc; Just One mice, which one?

Condenser Mics for the New Recording Artist

Did you mean AT2021 studio pack? Anyhow I don't mind sensitivity, I'd rather start with a higher grade model (I can get a 4040 or 4050 new on eBay for around the same price as a 2020 studio pack). And now I'm seeing the rode's and reading good things but failing to find any sound clips, or...

Condenser Mics for the New Recording Artist

Awesome thanks, I'll listen to 'em when I get home (I'm in the college library now ..shhh). While I'm posting I might as well spill the beans on my room, I admit I've been intimidated by the response that might be awaiting me. My room has vaulted ceilings and other than that is rather square in...

    The New Recording Artist's Equipment

Alright, I've got more time now, the reason I posted two was becasue I was afraid if I put the mic thread here, I would be told it should be in the Microphones section and vice versa, sorry! But thanks so much for your help. Now considering my predicament with PC fan noise, etc. what do you...

Condenser Mics for the New Recording Artist

Alright guys, you are amazingly helpful. Cusebassman you're exactly right I have no mics at the moment and honestly (in response to Ridickolas, I can't afford to be changing my room setup right now and can deal with ambient noise and reverb more than I can having a mic with too much high end or...
