Yeah, but how come when I simply asked the other guy if it was more difficult to go out of his way to talk like that everyone jumped all over me?
I just don't understand the whole thing. It's not like these people seem to be stupid. (Well, the jury is still out on the other guy). But their...
It's impossible to answer the second half of your question without some specifics. It's like asking, "Red or Green? What are the advantages? When should you use one or the other?"
Ted
I know I gave a "geez" when I read your post.
here's a friendly word of advice- if you want people to take you seriously, you need to learn to speak clearly and intelligently. I got some flames a while back for responding negatively to a similar post from someone. I know you're in...
Gidge-
I have a JV1010 also. I was never able to get the Soundiver software to work on my computers. It's been a while since I tried so I don't really remember what the difficulty was. I think I couldn't even get it to install properly. Or, if it did, I wasn't able to get it communicating with...
By Jove, I think he's got it! (Well, more or less.)
Inserts use a stereo plug, but are mono. One contact is the out and the other is the in. Think of it as a loop. You take the output and send it to a processor, then bring the processed audio back into the channel. Hence the term
"insert"...
HairWuzEre-
First off, welcome! :)
I think quite a number of different keyboards can handle alternate tunings. I know my KARMA can, I believe my K5000R can and I think my Motif Rack will do it as well.
Maybe you can narrow your search down a little more by defining some of the other...
Stability is one of Soundscape's greatest strengths.
I searched in vain for specs on the Mixtreme. I did find these rather limited test results in a Garry Simmons review on Prorec.com from 1999:
The SS8IO-3 is Soundscape's affordable analog-to-TDIF interface solution. The SS8IO-3 is a half...

Yeah, that would confuse me too. The only Behringer mixer that has ADAT on it, I believe, is their DDX3216 which is a digital mixer. The ADAT card is a $170.00 option. The mixers are selling for around $900.00. But that's obviously not what your friend is using as it's a 32 channel mixer with 16...
Actually, I think that the most logical use of a digital mixer would be as a front end to some kind of DTR (digital tape recorder). Essentially, if you have a multi-channel soundcard, your COMPUTER becomes a digital mixer. What would make more sense would be to get some kind of control surface...
It matters! And it's a good thing. Any experienced E-bayer won't place a bid until the last few minutes of the auction. If a lot of people are watching, it's more than likely that some of them will bid.
Good Luck!!!
Ted
You've got the basic idea down and are on the right track.
From this, I think there might still be a little confusion as to the differences between audio and MIDI data.
In order for your synths to produce the sounds you need to send them MIDI data. How are you creating the MIDI data in the...
You're right about the SS8IO-3, it tops out at 48K. There are other ways, of course. You aren't locked into their boxes. Anything with TDIF will interface will work with it although the new I-box 48-TA looks sweet!
What is your budget? Generally speaking, the Soundscape products are quite...
Not sure what you want us to say. It's a card with on board DSP that's been out for a number of years. The concept being that you can use the onboard DSP to free up your host CPU for other tasks. When the cards first came out, CPUs were much slower so this was a very powerful concept. The cards...
Keyboard feel is one of those personal issues that everyone has a different opinion on. Starting off as a piano player, I like keyboards that approximate the feel of a piano. Someone who learned on a synth might like that feel more. I suppose that ideally, it would be great to have several...
That's not entirely correct. You can get up to 192K from the Mixtreme, but with only 4 streams. Each doubling halves the number of channels. 48K=16 channels, 96K= 8 channels, 192K= 4 channels.
The more affordable method, if your computer has the space, would be to add more Mixtremes. You can...
Pipelineaudio- Yes, the newest version of their mixer software now supports VST and VSTi plugs!
Everyone had high hopes when Mackie bought into the company and instead of moving Soundscape forward, they nearly destroyed the company. Sydec (the original developers of the hardware) repurchased...
I'm not sure exactly what your budget is, but you might want to take a look at Soundscape's line. They have recently introduced a number of new products which cover a range of price points.
I've been using their Mixtreme cards for several years and they're a joy. It's the one part of my setup I...
