    Vynil to CD

Um...yes you can? It must depend on the turntable, because some of them have the unamplified ceramic outputs, and some have amps built in. But theoretically, I know that my turntable could easily connect to my soundcard's input with a simple home made connector consisting of two RCA male plugs...

MXL 603's or keep my shures

I think you should get the 603s anyway. After all, you'll never know if you like them until your try them and compare them with your Shure mics. It would be worth it to have 2 extra mics around anyway... you could have one set on the overheads, and use the others for a guitar track, without...

    60's & 50's rock sound??

You could also use nothing but overheads on the drums. I listen to tons of 50s and 60s music and it seems like most of them used only overheads. Too bad a vintage U47 costs so much... :D Isaiah

    parametric vs graphic EQ

A graphic EQ just has too many options... like say a 31 band EQ. I mean gosh, that gives you a lot of options ...which isn't necessarily "bad," but you can only adjust one or two frequencies at a time.. it just seems too meticulous... On the other hand, the parametric EQ has quicker results...

    Vynil to CD

Plug your turntable into your soundcard input jack, record all your songs, seperate each song for each track (unless you record them one at a time) Save them in WAV format, burn them to CD. Isaiah

Quick! Is $250 a good deal for an E-V RE1000?

My gosh...this mic sells for $500-$600 new. I guess that would mean that $250 is a steal! Isaiah

    Two Mic Questions.

Actually, it is... What did I say? Olympus? My bad! I meant Optimus! I knew that didn't sound right...dang it. I never make mistakes! Isaiah

Quick! Is $250 a good deal for an E-V RE1000?

LOL... well I might try to grab it, but I'm not sure if I really should. (Saving my money up for other stuff right now) I guess if I was clever, I could buy this one and try to resell it and make a little profit, then turn around and get another mic...or two! :-D Aahhhh, capitalism. Isaiah

    Marshall or Nady?

Nonono... the weather is beautiful up here in Washington State. All kinds of beautiful scenery, mountains, trees, lakes, no traffic jams, low crime... I think Harvey owes me a visit. :-D Isaiah

Quick! Is $250 a good deal for an E-V RE1000?

I found an Electro-Voice RE1000 for $250... is that a good deal? Isaiah

    Which cheap deal is better?

Personally I can't get enough of Mr. Gerst's posts. I prefer to shut my mouth and listen to the voice (even the opinion) of experience! I'm learning so much... too bad I don't have any money...yet! :-P Isaiah

    Two Mic Questions.

Shure did make at least one of Radio Shack's mics back in the day. The majority of their other mics sported the suspiciously cheap "Olympus" brand on them. Isaiah

i want to write and produce radio ads and jingles

A degree? For advertising? I don't think so. Even if there is one, it's pointless. If you have experience in marketing and sales already, you have everything you need to know about copy-writing. I have a friend who is a marketing consultant. He and his wife make a 6 figure income on...

    ADAT blackface any good?

Well I don't plan on mixing anywhere else. If I ever upgraded to XTs, I'd probably still keep the blackface models.. I'm just too darn sentimental. :-D Isaiah

    ADAT blackface any good?

Well, like I said... it's still gotta be better than cassette! I just want something a little more durable and a little more precise. I think ADAT will definitely be a huge step up. Isaiah

    ADAT blackface any good?

Well the blackface model certainly is appealing, so if anyone has any objections, let them speak now, or forever hold their peace! 16 bit may not be as great as 20 or 24 bit, but it's still gotta be a step up from cassette, for sure! This will be nice because I can interface an ADAT deck almost...

    guitar recording, sounds "thin"

I don't think taking the ball off would make any huge difference, but since I never tried it, I wouldn't know. Also, I think you'd get a much more pleasing result if you also used a secondary "room mic" in the background and panned each mic oppostite eachother. It will create a nifty stereo...

    low budget equipment advice needed...

Eddie... I think you could get a way better sound on a guitar cabinet if you miked it up close with the SM57 as you said, but also adding a room mic (a condenser) in the background, and pan the two signals opposite eachother. I've never heard a straightforward single-mic cabinet recording that...
