One of my other favorite tom sounds - Piano Man... those sound beautiful! Wish I was just a better drummer. :p Isaiah

What's a good double kick drum pedal?

Although I don't have one myself, the Axis pedals really kick butt. They're extremely fast.... Isaiah

I've been listening to Led Zeppelin a lot lately. Dang, I want that snare & tom sound. How'd they do it? Isaiah

Hey, you left out Ludwig, Sonor, Gretsch, Yamaha and some others. I demand a fair trial! Isaiah

    Will this work

Just a random observation: The Mackie manuals are also bloody hilarious... sounds like the kind of manuals I would write - i.e. suggestions for what to do with the cardboard box your mixer came in, etc. I love those guys! Isaiah

    Bosphorus Cymbals

These don't seem to be as popular as other names such as Paiste, Sabian, Zildjian, etc. Anybody use them? A friend of mine who owns a music store carries them. Isaiah

    newbie... yeah totally...

Want cheap cymbals? If you can, try and find someone who sells Argent cymbals. They're competitively cheap, but there are a few winners - they make an awesome sounding crash that's extremely affordable...Unfortunately these are pretty hard to find, but call up my friend Len at 1-888-6MUSIC1...

    newbie... yeah totally...

The Mapex V series are cheap, sound great and visually, "very attractive" to put it lightly. :D Anywhere you buy 'em, the price includes hardware. Otherwise, check out the new Yamaha YD series. They're including hardware & cymbals, at least for now. (probably not great ones, but enough to get...

    Ok....... Best 90's Drummer

Whoever plays for the Cherry Poppin' Daddies... I love that stuff. Maybe not the best, but easily my favorite of the 90's. Isaiah

i can't get my snare recording to sound good, help!

Maybe try different rings on the snare head. You get more of the "bang" sound without the ring, whereas with the ring, you get more of a "oomph," although it varies from snare to snare....this sounds weird, but if you have a ring on it, take it off and apply a couple strips of duct tape to the...

    Live show taping

I've had luck with SD condensers at classical concerts... the Marshall 603s's are popular and affordable. Check eBay for 'em. Isaiah

How many years have you played?

'Bout half a year... but I'm lucky to get any practice more than 3 or 4 times a month, seeing as how I don't have a kit of my own. I spend a lot of my time just sitting at my desk while hitting my knees and tapping my feet... it's surprising how much improvement I've gained just doing that. Isaiah

Difference in Studio Projects "C" and "B" series

Nobody likes a good capitalist... C'mon...free speech, dudes! I support people like Alan. Like most salesmen I've known, he just wants to offer a competitive product for a more-than-competitive price. Isaiah

    Neumann TLM103 sample

Ah, very good.... What kind of room are you recording in? What reverb/compressor did you use? Isaiah

    Neumann TLM103 sample

Actually, listening to it again, I think the vocals might need an EQ trim around 4kHz...it sounds a tiny bit brassy on some notes... Isaiah

    Neumann TLM103 sample

Warning! Bluntness alert! The guitar sound is lame... 'course, I can only blame the use of pickups... it likely has nothing to do with your technique. Some 603s's on that sucker would sound way nifty. Great vocal sound, and a good vocalist! I was impressed. I'd like to hear the same thing...

    harp recording (from a beginner)

I recorded a friend playing a Celtic harp during Christmas 2000... I am not happy with the sound, and I believe that it is because the room had too much carpeting and other absorptive objects. It had no "life," if you take my meaning...it was very dull. I tend to think that some good small...
