got it The top head had just come totally loose, and the heads had to build up tension again. This drum has a joint lugs, instead of independent lugs. That may have had something to do with it. It was a matter of flipping the drum over and over and retuning until they met each other.

This is driving me crazy. If I tune the top head where I want it, the bottom head raises in pitch. If I then tune the bottom head where I want it, the top head lowers in pitch. Advice please? (I am trying to tune these heads to a 'D').

As it turns out, this thread is kind of unnecessary. The seller has the original pickup as well and will include it. So I get to pick! Thanks.

may I ask what type of piccolo snare you used? just curious. Was the volume adequate? I have a couple snares, wood 5.5X13 and a steel 6.5x14, I'm gonna experiment with those some. Also, I was thinking of finding a clear head for the batter side, wouldn't this give me a brighter attack sound...
