    Couple of Les Paul questions...

Without hearing what's happening it's hard to know what to say. Can you link to a clip?

G string Issues... Or any kind of string....

Are all Epi nuts plastic? Just curious, I've never owned one.

G string Issues... Or any kind of string....

You forgot to say YMMV. I've been doing this for something like.... 43 years. The way I bend my strings when I play (electric), if i don't give 'em some good, hard yanks, then it's not enough. Different on acoustic, though.

You missed your opportunity to recommend talcum powder. I think you've fallen off your game. :p

    Calibrating your tuner... help!

I think you're about 4 years too late. He's probably quit playing by now. :D

G string Issues... Or any kind of string....

My G strings don't go out of tune at any different rate than any of my other strings. I can't imagine why yours would. Also, I can't believe the salesmen told you the equivalent of "they all do that" because they don't. Not if everything is working as it is supposed to. There could be some...

graphite, etc. for bridges and nuts

I've got a little tube of graphite that I bought, like, 20 years ago. It'll probably last me another 20. You do have to be careful with it if you don't want to make a mess. But it probably isn't any more harmful than talcum powder. :D

Arguing with myself: effects pedals vs. mult-ieffect.

I mostly agree, Lt. Bob. I think that as long as LPs and Strats are the baselines that other manufacturers use as their starting points for improved design, the LPs and Strats will continue to be thought of as the "fundamental" guitars and will hold their value. Having said that, I think that...

Arguing with myself: effects pedals vs. mult-ieffect.

Cool. I don't need my distortions, either, when I'm using the Egnater M4. I can dial in anything from painfully clean to fully gained-out, with 6 flavors in between the two. I do still use my pedalboard for the wah and the two Eventide boxes.

    Tele back after fretwork

Glad you're pleased with the results, WhiteStrat. I can't access that mp3 from work but I'll check it out later.

Arguing with myself: effects pedals vs. mult-ieffect.

I like to set mine to "totally blown amp sound" and enjoy the looks on my bandmates' faces.....:D

Arguing with myself: effects pedals vs. mult-ieffect.

I have a combination of digital and analog on my pedal board. Running into the front of my amp I have a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe wah, a Fulltone OCD overdrive, and a Boss OD-2 overdrive. These are all analog. In the FX loop I have an Eventide Time Factor and an Eventide Mod Factor, both of which...

Effect of capacitor value on tone?

A cap by itself is high-pass. From what I gather, though, as wired up with a pot like in a guitar, when you put a cap in series with a resistor and if you take the output across the cap, it's a variable lowpass. I'm gonna have to read up on it so I understand it better.
