I have not controlled my Fantom with Logic - that's not part of my setup. However, I make the Fantom a MIDI slave to my TASCAM 2488 for clocking. I'm assuming that you would have to do the same to have the Fantom respond as a slave to any device.

OK, let me ask this. Two guitars, all other things being equal mechanically, but one has a string behind the nut that is 1/2" from nut to tuner, and the other has 12" from nut to tuner. Would the amount that you would have to bend the vibrating portion to attain a given frequency shift upwards...

There are so many variables involved that I'm not sure I know what accounts for what I'm observing.

^^^^^^^ My observation is that a guitar with less headstock angle / less string break at the nut, and / or more string length above the nut and aft of the bridge saddles requires more deflection to acheive an upward note bend. I've always felt that this is because when you deflect a string...

OK. I usually change my strings before breakage is likely, anyway.

You mean you insert the strings into the neck side of the tailpiece, wrap them over the top of the tailpiece, and the over the tuneomatic saddles? What's the perceived benefit? I load my strings from the rear of the tailpiece.

I'm not sure about being able to master a 4-string bass so quickly (and I don't think learning a 5-string should be any more difficult), but IMO a 5-string gives you a lot of added versatility so why not start there?

A basic OD box can be had for $14.95, and a basic chorus for $30.

But nobody cares about CaptAssHat's opinion anyway.

I'd be inclined to say that it is not the best-selling effect of all time. They're expensive compared to ODs and choruses (for example) and are used far less than either.
