according to the schematics i have found ( havent built one myself) there is a fairly simple mod to change to a dc current for the filament heater instead of AC . that should help quiet it up some. ( not sure how much though but it looks simple enough and surely couldn't hurt) I am not an...
Did you build the paia? if so you may be able to answer a couple of questions. First is it using full wave rectification or a switching power supply or (cringe) half wave power supply?. Second you may be able to replace ( or add if lacking ) some filtering cap's and possibly a voltage regulator...
I built an N72 and compared it to the 1272's we have lunchboxed at work. Its not identical but VERY dam close! I will be building more of these.

Or you could always use the oldest trick in the book and have them set a their wallet on the snare while recording..... when in use since the 50-60's work quite well with a leather wallet.
Randy
120-240 is generally gonna be the low end on a snare....
crack usually sits at about 5K
and the snap from the snares themselves sit at about 10K
the ring usually sits around 900 hz
this is the "average" snare....no snare exactly like this exists..... use as a general guide....
when you eq don't...
Huge performance gain ( memtest86 will tell you the available memory bandwidth and when i jumped to dual channel it most certainly went up didnt quite double but was definately another 60% higher) not sure what Mobo you are using however i have not had any issues using memory that arent the...
I am curious about using a ribbon over top of an open back cabinet or combo amp. Since the front and back of a ribbon mic both pick up sound 180 degrees out of phase AND the sound from an open back cabinet is ALSO 180 degrees outta phase.. .... Gonna have to try it..... ANyone else tried it...
Here is a link on the Intel site explaining that they have to be the same model and the same family ( to ensure that they are the same speed etc. read number 2) Intel SIte
The Asus site is SLOW!!!. i'll see if I can find any different info there for you.
Randy
what is the chipset..... I have NEVER seen any chipset that could handle differently clocked processors ( at least as far as the x86 architecture is concerned) ....seriously ....not trying to doubt you..
Randy
Most Dual processors machines i have seen , require that the processors be the same speed. so you may need to try to clock to clock the 1gig down or replace the 733.... that might help..... you should also check to make sure that the software your using will take advantage ( as in multiple...
Seagate has one thing to its merit.... 5 year warranty!!!! No one else give more than a year or 2 tops anymore. I recently purchased 2 seagate 160 gig drives with a 5 year warranty on each of them. this tends to instill some confidence.

Sorry to hijack your thread ( and congrats your is in WAY nicer condition than mine) Anyone know of somewhere in Dallas that I could take my 388 and get it rebiased and serviced in general .. It still is in working order however I need to get the pots cleaned and a rebias would probably do...
i have recently thought long about this very concept and agree completely. this thread should get moved to the studio forum though........ most of the old school studios had crap compared to alot of the gear we now have....and listen to the results......far surpassing anything i have ever...
