Ibanez RG is a good place to start. Bridge PuP is pretty shredding and the hisck and mdl can clean up nicely. Skinny minny necks though, which I dont care for, but to rach their own.

If it has a Def Leppard sticker its worth the price! In all seriousness, I dont have a value... check ebay, but I have seen lots of explorers being fire saled on craigslist and in local shops. I would rather put my money in a Hamer explorer(style) if ya ask me!

I would try a delay pedal to thicken it up before the octave. Its probably going to sound like a giant fart on big strummed chords, but on single notes, it will be cool.

Just like most import Jazzboxes.... some are sweet some are dogs. I would say Ibanez Artcore have the best QC of the lot, but still some dogs out there. TRY B4 YA BUY!!!!!

Get a good playing/sounding guitar first and worry about the electronics later. When ya get out there and start testing whats out there, dont be tricked into buying an inferior box with all the bells and whistles(bulit in tuner etc.). You can get a nice undersaddle for around $100 and preamp...

Most mom and pop shops have a big odds and ends tuner parts box... take it down and see if they have something laying around the back.

Every once in a while, i find a squire that is playable and sounds nice, but in the vast majority of cases, you will be throwing good money at bad. If it intonates well and is easy to play, and its your first guitar..... it will be fine to learn on, but I would aspire to something a bit...

It was an early studio from the early 90s. These guitars are killer values IMHO. There really isnt much comparison to the new ones.
