Actually I got a sound I quite liked from the MR8's own distortion, a bit like a swarm of angry bees wielding toy buzz-saws. It suited my purposes anyway.
I've decided to test the CDs on a few more systems to as not to waste everybody's time if it's only my (Philips) stereo the CDs don't work on. Thanks for the advice.
I was using 80min Cds, if that's relevant.
Yep. Did that. Could it be that some new stereos, not old ones, are programmed not to play CD-Rs? Many stereo manufacturers are also involved with the record business.
Actually I am using CD-Rs - in my ignorance I thought RW stood for the rewriter itself. They still don't play in my stereo, but I've now discovered they play in a Walkman. Obviously the Sony is not the only stereo which doesn't play CD-Rs.
It hasn't been tested by Fostex. If it doesn't work I'll send it back and go back to the 2 minute songs. Can there be a corporate plot to bring back punk?
I used the Nero wizard, selected audio CD, and got the message "for audio compilations the use of CD-RWs is not recommended, since many audio players will not be able to read these CDs". The wizard automatically finalizes, so that isn't the problem.
I'm in the UK - it was £79 from www.mx2.com - by far the cheapest round here, but then the cheapest MR8 in the UK is about £290 - far more expensive than the US. I think the make is Integral (unless that's a description).
I've got a nero 5 burning rom which (as they rightly claim) makes audio CDs which no player can read. Does anyone have any idea of how to make a playable CD from a compactflash card?
When running out of time for recording on my MR8, why does it not give me more time when I delete tracks (as it obviously does when I delete songs)? I can't find anything in the manual. Any ideas about overcoming this problem?
