    Where are you located

Looks like a cosy little bungalow there Bobbsy. The garage certainly looks to take up a large chunk of the space! All those American and Australian suburban areas always look so cosy. I technically live in a suburban area myself. England just looks the same everywhere until you get to the...

What your pride and joy piece of equipment??

You don't need either. and I don't see why having those and using them would make them less of your pride and joy either. If anything, it would make them more important. I especially love my computer. My bass amp is probably my fav piece after it though. =P My computer can do everything I need...

    Where are you located

From Leeds in England. One of the most populated cities in the country. Thuogh when you've been in the terrible London traffic, Leeds seems quite peaceful. =P Great lot of people around the music scene. Shame it's just a bunch of teenage emo cunts, who love slicing their pale skin all over their...

    Firestudio Project - Computer Freezes

I don't understand why you have a go at Windows for it at the start. It is indeed a PreSonus problem. It could well just be something went wrong inside. Especially if it has been working fine for months. If it is still in warranty, just get a replacement from where you bought it, as it shouldn't...

    Koboloris - Malign Inspiration

Just a quick "hey, check this out". I've recently been working on a project which is Black Metal in origin, though influenced by the whole spectrum. It'd be great to have you guys listen and give your thoughts. It's early in the project, as we've just the other day released this to the public...

    Studio Desk - Recessing Displays

Just seems like a shelf lower than the desk placed behind it. I'm sure you can manage to do that? I don't understand what you are asking help with.

    USB 2/3 vs Firewire 400/800?

Actually Macs do have USB 3.0 now. and their desktops are the only ones that still use firewire on all models, with at least 1 port. All their low end laptops have removed it fully. The same seems to be true is most regular laptops. No more firewire. and i believe my desktop motherboard is one...

    Flat or Round

This, plus whatever the wood is made of. Softer woods will start to show wear faster, with everything else equal. Something like Ebony will do you great. But even Rosewood and Maple aren't really going to get damaged with years of rigorous usage.

    USB 2/3 vs Firewire 400/800?

USB 3.0 doesn't have any interfaces yet that I know of. Firewire is the best is very large amounts of inputs and outputs. But USB 2.0 can handle up to 16. Take that for what it's worth. Everything else, you're not particularly going to see much if any difference. Firewire is slowly being phased...

    Flat or Round

Smooth = flats Growl = rounds Or half round to get something in between. I particularly enjoy flats myself, and manage to get a nice growl out of them anyways. It really depends what kinda bass and how you set up your EQ and amp. Strings are very subtle compared, but still noticeable.

    ram upgrade

Actually the max RAM for 64bit OS is a theoretical 16 Exabytes. Though most Motherboards will only accept a max of 16 or 32 Gigabytes. as for the OP, if the computer is old enough that it only came with 1GB standard, then it will most likely only be a 32 bit OS able to have a max of 4GB. As...

    Recording Metal guitar tracks..

+1 Technique and gain especially. The higher gain makes even the most sensitive touch come up, but even lowering the gain won't fix for you having your hands all over the place. This comes from a guy with terrible guitar technique. =P Adding onto to all that, a basic noisegate could help you a...

    Bass amp head as pre-amp?

If you have it sounding the way you want it to sound now, then nobody can really argue. =] I'm glad I've not delved into some of the more technical side of recording as of yet. =P

Updated to New PC,.. now in need of a new Interface to work with Window's 7 64 Bit...

Why is there always such nonsense from a lot of first time posters?... It seems that way anyways. Giving misguided advice is not helpful to anyone.

    Bass amp head as pre-amp?

I've heard you should always check for phase issues in mono before panning things out. But I have no idea if that's true.

Selling Out in the Music Biz: How are you spending your money?

    1. How much money have you spent on gear? Just on the stuff I use to actually record, probably about £1500. Including instruments and such too, I'd say around £4000-5000 at least so far. 2. How much money have you spent on studio time? None. Always recorded with good friends usually. Now with...

I thought the same thing. Insane angle there. Could do with sorting. Love the little synths and clean look of it all though.

    Bass amp head as pre-amp?

You're right, they aren't the same, but they handle it fine. You're not going to damage anything doing it. and you're going to need to send the line level signal into a line input, which is already run by a preamp. Generally the volume knob/slider will have a unity [0] point. Mine go between...
