I don't expect Windows 8 to take over Windows 7. I'm not even sure why they really branded it as 8, as it's not really a continuation of 7. It's more aimed towards the portable and touch screen markets, which have been going up and up in popularity the last couple of years. Windows 7 will still...
I never use reverb when I record my vocals. But then, I don't monitor them either. In the project I'm doing at the moment, where my vocals are actually going, they are covered in reverb though. Often soaked in the stuff. =P Purposely for effect. Generally a little delay too in parts. But I...
I'm working on releasing an EP later this month. Just got a couple vocal tracks and the last bass track to record I think.
Koboloris - Lupinotuum on Vimeo - Here's a taster of what is to come. =]
Personally, I'd use the single mic to sample each drum and cymbal, and MIDI trigger the beat in. But even a single room mic for the whole kit could work. Especially if that single mic happened to be the perfect mic for that setting.
Fairly old thread you dug up here, but certainly an interesting topic. I live with my gear. Even sleep with it. =P It's all in the same room! XD But I agree with the insurance stuff. All my gear is insured, Even if I need to take instruments out of the house or anything. Though I've not played...
Start up a new thread perhaps? A "songs recorded entirely with a single microphone" thread... Or you know "One Mic Challenge" if you're not into stupidly long thread titles. XD Could be interesting to see, hear, and perhaps join in with. =]
Nothing to do with humbucker/single coil. That particular guitar may not have much high end. If you put the pickup selector on just the bridge, it could give a brighter sound. Or if you have a treble pot, turn it up a little. Unless it's on full, in which case, it may be wirth opening the guitar...
As a bassist myself primarily and something every bassist seems to know, but often guitarists who play bass seem to forget or ignore, is it's also about what you don't play that counts. =P The most simple way is to follow the kick drum with root notes, and the pauses between really bring it out...
Haha. You guys. =P
I'm lucky to have a partner who actually finds it exciting that I play music. =D We don't live together, but if we did, and she were to end up telling me how to spend my own money [unless of course, I were to for some reason spend money which should have been used for bills]...
If you're eating through your frets on your bass in only a few years, you're doing something wrong, or you've never put the bass down in all that time. =P I'm a bassist primarily. None of my frets have visible wear. and you'd be surprised at how well the wood takes it. There's a reason they use...
Le456 and LeCto from LePou.
LePou Plugins: LE456
LePou Plugins: LeCto
With a good cab sim or reamping into a mic'd cab, they sound brilliant.
I use Kefir I think it's called for loading cab impulses. Though even LePou have a pretty good one called LeCab on that site too. I just prefer the...
Just got a nice 32" TV. Gonna eventually hook it up to the computer as a second monitor, for all of the out of the way stuff. But it's given me a lot more room on top of the amp from where I used to still have a big CRT TV on there. =P So 2 birds with one stone as they say. =D
Edit: Oh and I...
I can't comment on the Apogee, as i have no idea how they work. If they have mic inputs, then brilliant, you're half way there. As for plugging in or mic'ing the guitar, try both, and see which you like best. I'd imagine having it mic'd would suit a guitar/vocal set up best, but that is...
Never physically possible for 0 latency, but certainly close, as electricity travels at close to the speed of light. But anything under 20 is meant to be undetectable. I don't see 25 being that big of a problem.
My house has a rather odd layout itself But definitely makes use of room. The hallways upstairs and down are both rather a tight squeeze, just to make the most of the rooms. The kitchen is especially quite large. One of my favourite rooms of the house. =P
"I haven't seen anything about Reaper, Protools, or Cakewalk having built in synth instruments."
yeah, pretty much every DAW will come with some synth or three. Plenty of free ones to download too, that work perfectly great. For more professionally sampled sounds, you'll have to spend a bit of...
Haha. Same here. My computer is needed for what I do. Just not for everyone. and my computer can do everything a Mac can do, though no, it is not one. =P You can see in my sig what I have in it. Nothing over the top, but does wonders still.
As you mention DAWs though, I suppose I really have to...
