New Old Song; "Game Over" - alternative rock/indie.

Nice work on the remix Bubba. The updated mix sounds great - all round meatier and punchier and the vocals are sitting in a better place. Nice vocals on the chorus. Nothing strikes me as sounding 'off' at all - look forward to hearing what you've got in mind with the bridge section.

Hi Jimi, yeah I agree with Robus - split the difference between the guitar levels on the two mixes! The remix is good, but I think has the guitar a touch high. Sounds are very cool throughout and though you might still be learning on the drums, I think you got a real nice tone with them. The...

    Baby Britain

Hey, thanks a lot for coming back in Fleet. Glad this is an improvement, i got some really useful suggestions from the clinic from the first mix. Hmm, I'll take another look at the piano part you mention. The piano was the very first part I tracked and I realised after that there was more of...

Cool, I'll see if it helps - I'm a crap singer too :D Y'know funnily enough I made a playlist recently for the summer weather that I've been hammering to death with a few of those guys you mention on along with a bunch of other similar 90s alt rock stuff and goofy american bands - camper van...

Cool, thanks a lot JDOD. I appreciate you taking the time and for the encouragement too! I tried to think about Elliott's production as I tracked and mixed it, so glad it came across well. His playing and singing style is pretty fascinating once you start trying to pick it apart - worth...

    Baby Britain

Excellent, thanks Robus - your pointers on both this tune and my last clinic one were really helpful. I had "don't get pushy in the mids" etched into my brain like a mantra as I was tracking :D Awesome, thanks for listening jimi. 'Clean and well engineered' hasn't necessarily been the case...

    Baby Britain

Hey fleet, yeah I've got quite a few ideas for originals, some covers I'm itching to do and a bunch of old ones that I'm hoping to revisit - so I want to get this mix right to get things back on the right foot. Thanks tons for your thoughts. I think you're spot on - other than the issues...

    Baby Britain

Hi Tad, no problem ‘harping on’ about the vocals at all – the whole purpose of this cover for me (and possibly a couple of others before I get back to originals again) is to experiment and improve. I want to get used to the new space and equipment and generally get better at this stuff, so...

Light 'em up! With easlern and ibleedburgundy

Mix 8 sounds really good. I listened a few days ago to an earlier mix, but didn't get chance to comment. There were a few tweaks I thought of on the earlier version, but all nicely resolved now. Performances are all great , mix is balanced and you all sound in the same space. Nice work fellas :)

    The Bends - cover

The original's such a powerful sounding song that I imagine this is a tough one to replicate with amp sims and fake drums. The performance sounds pretty good I think - a bit already said about the drums and I'm not really best placed to make any suggestions. One thing that caught my ear is...

    Crackle/Pop noise randomly

Yeah, I think this is a good call by Tadpui - ASIO buffer/CPU usage would be my guess too.

Last One In The Room - alternative mix

Mix sounds very polished andrushkiwt - I think it sounds very commercial and powerful, but not sure it sounds more 'natural' or live sounding if that's what you're going for. I like how it kicks in after the opening section and you've made a catchy tune here. I'm not mad keen on the tone of...

New Old Song; "Game Over" - alternative rock/indie.

This is a cool tune Bubba and nice to bring it back from the dead. If you hadn't mentioned the original singer coming in to do the vocals, I'd have suggested bringing them up in the mix - your take sounds good other than being a little low. Can definitely hear a guitar solo in that section you...

    Baby Britain

Great, thanks for your thoughts Bubba - I agree on your comments re the vocal. I guess this is where I got caught between replicating the original style and trying for something myself. I figured Elliott close miked his vocals - as well as the prominent double tracking) to get that intimate...

Okay, trying to get a new recording space up and running and this is the first new thing I’ve recorded from scratch in about 2 years. New room, couple of bits of new equipment and I’ve done a bunch of things differently to try and improve the general quality. This is a cover of an old...

Anthropocene - new tune by SavantSyndrome

Very nice Bubba - lots of great tones throughout, especially on the rhodes, sax and bass. Your wife sounds good too, loads of improvement on that second mix. Good to hear you keep trying out new things stylistically.

    Island Hopping with ibleedburgundy

Hey Robus & IBB, this is really good. You seem to have a knack of writing stuff with a strong emotional hook. The instrumentation's all good and the unusual vocals give a bit of edge & stop things getting too smooth & MOR. You may be a bit self-conscious about them, but they're distinctive and...

What are your top 10 most influential albums?

Hmm, if you didn't like Brighten the Corners, then maybe not. The Sound on Terror Twilight is a little more polished again than BTC, probably in part due to Nigel Godrich producing not long after OK Computer. It's a hard record for me to view objectively because it came out when I was about...

What are your top 10 most influential albums?

Yeah, I think so! there are a few on your list that I'm familiar with the names of, but have never actually heard - like the New Pornographers for example - I'll check some of them out this week. There's just so much music out there now, that it's easy to be completely unfamiliar with what...
