I really like it mate. I'm only listening on my phone right now and it sound a lot better than what I could do.
Have you mastered it also?
If not then could you upload a 24 bit version wav.
It kinda sounds loud on my phone which make me think you might of done this.
What settings did you use...
I'm really in need of help getting this song finished. I am Having a hard time balancing things and compressing vocals.
Notes on the song: It's a live take recorded all in one go without any overdubs. I used the sound from my digital piano for monitoring (from the speakers) this is...
I think I migres be overloading my limiter. Should is just raise the overall level of my tracks?
At the moment I'm having to add an extra 8-9 dB of gain on the limiter. Keeping in mind this is highly dynamic music.
Any thoughts?
Anyone up for it? It's kinda alternative folk/indie/ambient
What file sharing site do people use to upload files. What's the typical way to do this? Just upload Wav stems?
How do other users sync up wavs....?
Sorry for my naivety, there is probably a real easy way to do this.
Tah
This sound does not occur if I mixdown without mastering plugs. Which leads me to believe I'm pushing the limiter to hard for this style of music. Should I raise the overall levels of all my tracks? Thus not pushing things to hard at mastering?
I recorded it live. Nt1a on the vocal (some bleed from the digital piano speakers)
I used the midi out going straight into yamaha ivory vsti for my main piano sound.
I wanted to record this live as I'm going to sync it to video.
Any comments on the mix? I can't seem to get less reverb on...
The odd sound could be the digital piano beino picked up on the vocal (spill) I am the using the yamaha ivory vst for the main piano sound. Is that what you meant by odd/weird? Or is it just not your cup of tea? Haha
Bubba: I could upload my project folder and you could give it a go ;)
I'm...
From 3:37 and any other places where the piano is played alone I am hearing distortion /clipping of some kind. Please start the song from 40's in as I need to edit/sync the beginning to video.
Nothing clips in my daw and there are no intersample peaks occurring at mastering stage. Note also...

If I turn the fader up with the compressor on the insert of that track would I then essentially be applying more compression?
The reason I ask is because even when my fader is turned all the way down I can still see the compressor working (GAIN reduction etc)
Would the following be a good...
1. Obviously when compression takes place the peaks of our tracks are reduced. However, when we compensate the gain reduction by boosting the output are we not essentially bringing back those peaks to the same level they were before, be it a more consistent level overall between softest and...
Many Thanks. This has definitely cleared a few things up at least on a technical level. Just to note, I have my compressor on the master buss set to 2-3 GR, Slow attack, 2:1 ratio. Is this fairly standard for folk/Acoustic music. I want to keep the sound open/full/and not too squished.
When I...
Let's say I am exporting my unmastered mix in 24bit. Should I still apply a 24bit dither on the stereo buss?
or is this done at the mastering stage dither set to 16bit...?
I'm pretty sure this is the case as I can raise the gain on the limiter a lot more during the quieter parts. This inevitably starts (ISP's) to clip when the louder parts of the song come in. The vocal is very dynamic and at the moment I have the compressor set at 2:1, Medium-High Threshold, with...
I'm mastering on my stereo bus within any given project, so 24 bit (not using to many plugins)
should I put the dither plugin after my limiter and set this to 16 bit, as well as exporting to 16 bit?
