How would folks go about this? the guitar is going to be tracked separately from vocals and accompanying instruments. even with the mic 10 " away I still get tonnes of muddy bass build up which requires drastic high passing (150hz) perhaps I'm better off using my RODE M3 .....?:)

I never thought of the standing whilst recording, I'm normally inclined to sit (even though I always stand live) So you're saying I should get as much rejection as I would if I were using a large condenser? Which has more rejection, small or large diaphragms ?

Yes I also think this might of been the case. If you carefully listen to the vocal it hasn't actually got a great deal of dynamic range going on. It's all pretty much consistently one volume Imo. Using a condenser with compression might of been too heavy handed in this instance perhaps?
