    Workspace problem

hi all, Whenever I create a workspace with the Mixer in view the mixer is consequently put behind the main project window when recalled, thus eliminating it from view. I know i can just use F3 but I'd like to recall the mixer and the plugins I have on the master bus. D

    Live session - The Flowing

That's great will check this out later. I set my mastering limiter to 0.30 to reduce intersample peaks (as there is lots of dynamics) hence why you increased the volume I guess...

    Live session - The Flowing

Wow! That really means a lot. Have been working on my production skills a lot recently. Hopefully it's paying off. Yes, there is some hiss and low rumble as I have the back door open obviously (main road outside 10 metres away) I left it open to add to the vibe haha Many thanks

    Mic distance recording singing guitarist

Every article I've read thus far explains the 3:1 rule with with only one source. A singing guitarist is technically two sources. Do we from an engineering perspective treat both guitar and voice as one source when using 3:1?

    Mic distance recording singing guitarist

this article treats the 3:1 technique as one mono source What is "3:1 Rule of Microphone Placement - inSync"? "The 3:1 Rule works because the level of the signal entering the second mic (the one farther away) is reduced in level compared to the signal entering the first mic" this seems...

    Mic distance recording singing guitarist

I'm assuming a 'singing guitarist' can be treated as a mono source then? as I'm more familiar with the 3:1 rule when capturing a solo instrument in stereo i.e spaced pair Perhaps this is why I ran into problems with phase issues. I was seated whilst playing and had the mics at least 10" away...

    Mic distance recording singing guitarist

do you have to engage to figure 8 setting on the mic? or does it just have to be a mic with this feature? hope that makes sense

    Mic distance recording singing guitarist

How close is 'fairly close' I'm recording in a large room with some absorption, wooden floors, no absorption on ceiling. should I keep both mics at the same distance?

    Mic distance recording singing guitarist

If I'm only using two mics to record voice and guitar should the distance of the mics (regardless if close or distant) always be kept the same (for both mics) to avoid phase issues? I've been tracking things separately for awhile now, the reason being is that I performed some really nice takes...

    hi pass filter question

Every article/video I've read/seen says to cut the lows on most tracks to clean up the low end of a mix. However, what about sparse acoustic material? (guitar/vocal) I find that my recordings/mixes are sounding much better in general using many of the techniques I've learnt, but sometimes...

    Home studio above basement

Up until recently I was using my groggy basement as a studio. It was great for getting dry recordings but lacked the comfort and inspiration needed to finish projects. I've since bought a few wall panels for my living/dining room which is direcly above the basement. The flooring is basic...

    How to achieve this vocal

Cheers all.. On another note, the song is still quite loud for the type of music. If little compression has been used on the voice then how has the overall level been achieved without causing the limiter to smash things (intersample peaks and lots of gr) I know the video is subject to...

    How to achieve this vocal

Keaton Henson - Epilogue (Official Video) - YouTube If you listen on headphones the vocal is right up front and intimate. Almost as if the voice is inside your head going outwards haha How has the engineer got it to sit where it is without the piano being totally buried? The guy singing has...

    VU meter question

Using the Klanghelm VUMT plugin to track at optimal levels I'm taking advice from the thread about hitting 0 vu whilst tracking as this gives a better overall representation of our levels going in. obviously the cla-21 isn't a dedicated VU meter, but...

    VU meter question

    VU meter question

hi all, just a quick one. Ive tracked everything to average of about -12dbfs. However, I checked the first plugin (Waves CLA-2A) on the inserts of one of my tracks (vocals) and when I checked the input going into the compressor it's hitting around -12 to about -8 on the vu meter. I don't know...
