Will Analog Multitracks ever be made again?

clownfacedude Things are only as old as the last time someone was new to them. If a kid in his bedroom got the idea to make all his recordings sound like they were from the 1940s thats just as cutting edge to me as someone who is using the lastest software. I think this is a good quote...

Will Analog Multitracks ever be made again?

depends Well it depends on the project. Ive done just straight tape tracking to tape mastering, tape to digital mixing, and ive even tried straight digital and digital to tape. Ive always found that i liked the end result as much as i liked the song itself to begin with. Im not a purist for...

Will Analog Multitracks ever be made again?

L Well, until digital sounds better than a well kept record on a decent player, i dont see why it should be looked down upon, or seen as something thats going away anytime soon. The reason i brought up age is because i think its a little insulting to come to an analog forum and start claiming...

Will Analog Multitracks ever be made again?

O You expressed opinions that were obviously condescending. Your opinions contained no factual evidence, not even personal factual evidence. You refused to address the points made by other posts, and instead starting giving advice about life. I dont see why vinyl and digital downloads...

Will Analog Multitracks ever be made again?

L The sonic differences between vinyl and digital are not personal experiences or opinions. If someone starts a band and releases music on vinyl for people who prefer vinyl, then it is most certainly "applicable". I can tell the difference between a vinyl record playing and a cd. Preferring...

Will Analog Multitracks ever be made again?

oh I dont think any couple that is going for a romantic balloon ride, or the guy who studied hot air ballooning his whole adult life and makes his living off giving them, or the company that manufactures the fuel and materials needed to create a hot air balloon sit and worry about not being a...

Will Analog Multitracks ever be made again?

hm "Nostalgia" isnt whats keeping vinyl alive, it is the sound. Someone could make the claim that "nostalgia" is the reason people are buying vinyl, but the proof of that would never and could never be as concrete as the fact-based differences in sound quality when comparing vinyl to an mp3. I...

Will Analog Multitracks ever be made again?

I dont deny that vinyl will never be the only way people listen to music, but many many people for whom music is a large part of their daily life do buy it on vinyl and also have it on ipod etc for portability. There are two kinds of music listener, and for one of those two kinds there is no...

ah well Ah, well, the name Great Cobb is a character from the cartoon Ren and Stimpy. I actually love your opinions about analog multitracks. In fact, you are only a few posts away from a guaranteed friend request from me. Dont feel insecure about recording to digital though, i use a hybrid...

    Just add Drums

not sure Im not sure what to charge. But as you may have already considered, much of the drum sound will be based on their ability to tune, and the room they are in. It might be smart to have a few different choices of problem solving mics and maybe even a parametric EQ in there with the intent...

Ez Hey EZ, would you mind making a few posts about how terrible the Boss VB-2 analog vibrato pedal is? Ebay prices are sky high and it would be nice to have a few negative reviews floating around to bring them down a bit. Thanks. PS: Could you please make fun of these ones too: Mutron...

    Tascam 388 problems Part 2

Ok ok I unplugged the P4 from both, and its been on for awhile now, and the heat sink is still cold. By now it would have been ragingly hot.

    Tascam 388 problems Part 2

ok OK well i got the cables, hooked them up correctly, and now im going to look over the tests and see if i can figure anything out. Do i disconnect P4 from the card or the board way inside the 388?

Newbie Going analog with a TEAC 80-8.

80-8 Ive always considered the 80-8 to be one of the coolest looking Tascam/Teac reel to reels. Mostly because of the cream colored VUs against the black surrounding areas.

    Tascam 388 problems Part 2

ok So, once i get it, and its all hooked correctly, should i power it on after unplugging P4 and see if it gets hot? The above post says "remove connector P4", but then right after he says P5 so im unsure which one im supposed to try first. Basically my question is this, once it is...
