I didn't even think there was much difference between the two. I guess you can get the SM57 a bit closer to the grill of an amp and the SM58 can keep a singer that likes to eat the mic from getting excessive handling noise.

I don't I've seen anything that would route the way you are talking. A patch bay would be closest I think but you would still be moving cables, just not having to unplug mics.

If we can't finish the basis of the song in an hour or so we drop it and move on. Many times in the past we tried to keep forging ahead with an idea and wasted a lot of time just to decide that it wasn't worth pursuing anyways.

Keep using what works. Maybe try moving them around a bit (placement). Save your money for new strings lol
