You don't mix down to a CD Burner. You mix down to a 16 bit stereo 44.1khz wav file and then burn that to a CD-R.

How could you leave out the Mackie HR824's??????? The Mackies are one of the best pair you can get for your money. They are about 1200 a pair but it's worth the extra money to get them.

I don't use a noise gate in my guitar rig.. but I'll add one as a plug-in in Sonar. This way you can play with different gate settings when you mix and not have to re-record guitars.

Maybe your SBLive mixer software is interfering(?) I record through my spdif input all the time and I know I can't get a signal unless it is set up on the SB mixer panel to record.

Yes there is a way! You need Live Synth Pro. I have 5 midi tracks for my drum fonts (snare, kick, toms, hat and cymbals each on separate tracks) that are sent to 5 audio tracks by using Live Synth Pro. You can then apply FX to the audio tracks in real time.
